Q: Can this table function without the bottom shelf? I am looking for 19 inches of clearance under the table so wondering if the table will be sturdy if the bottom shelf is not installed.

A: Hello KG, great question! It is not recommend that the bottom shelf not be installed. From the floor to the bottom of the top shelf only has a clearance of 15.92 inches. Hope this information helps in making your decision.

Loved these tables, I purchased the coffee table first and decided to keep it easy by buying the matching side tables. Easy to put together and very sturdy. One word of wisdom when you are building them is to make sure the wood goes the same direction (there is the top of the table and the bottom shelf, when I first set them up the grain of the wood was in opposite directions so I had to take them apart and re-do).
