How to line it up with holes

Works fine. But for a FYI for everyone trying to put this on, I just figured it out after an hour. As it was not clear in the directions. If you look at the last picture shown on Target, you can see the bottom part of the front of the crib is moved up a bit. You actually have to unscrew the 4 screws (2 on each side) on the bottom of the outside of the crib, and then slide it up and screw it back in the new holes. Once you do that, the top screw on this will line up.

Buy toddler bed instead

Purchased this crib from Target.com the crib is good looking and easy to assemble however the finish is poor and scratches very easily ruining the look. The number one reason we purchased this crib was the 4in1 idea, however all the parts are sold separately and RIDICULOUSLY priced. The small bed rail to upgrade to toddler bed was $99.99! I finally bit the bullet and bought the piece when it was on sale for $89.99 You can purchase an entire new toddler bed for that price FYI I was shocked when it arrived at how much we spent then to find out the pre-drilled holes to attach it DID NOT ALLIGN. Very disappointed and frustrated. Would advise against buying this.

Not worth the expense

Bought this to match the crib but ended up returning simply due to the price. This is a small part that costs 1/3 of the price of the entire crib and it's a lot to spend for something that may or may not be used in the future. I would have kept it if the price was more reasonable.

Looks nice because it matches the crib but very over priced for the small piece that it is. I wish it was a little more uniquely detailed or maybe a little taller but works fine.

Overpriced piece of furniture that goes well with the rest of the crib.

A very expensive part to be defective. Major waste of money and time. Our family wish that we would have purchased a whole different bed if we knew this was going to be the case.

This item was way too small and way over priced for what it is. You are better off not having this piece at all since it doesn’t help prevent your child from falling out of bed, but only looks nice. Buy the $30 options out there that actually function as a toddler bed rail.
