Simmons Kids' Monterey 7 Drawer Dresser

For the price, you would think it would be a great dresser. Within a few months the paint started to chip on the top. Now over a year later the paint is almost non existent.

I was skeptical after reading the reviews but it matched my little man’s crib so I went ahead and ordered it. The assembly is definitely not for the weak, I did it in 4 hours over two days, after putting the frame together I was fried and did the drawers the next day. It definitely has a smell to it that disappears after a couple days with some open windows and an smell eliminator absorbing thing, unfortunately my guy had to sleep in there with the smell but it didn’t seem to bother him one bit. All the pieces went together perfectly and it had no scratches or crazy chipping.

Assembly was cumbersome. The off gassing smell filled our entire house. Dresser looks nice but unsure how durability will be using in a toddlers room.

The look is very nice, but if you use the top at all the finish rubs off after 3 months

Finish is chipping off in the first months of use. We are 1 year in and two of the pieces already look terrible. Unfortunately I went all in and bought toddler rails and the full bed conversion kit with a plan to use this furniture for several years. I would absolutely not buy this and regret so much that I order all of the pieces. Such a waste of money. It is beautiful and seemingly well built, but needs better finishing.

read the reviews on the assembly and consider the person putting it together before you buy it. if you're the person actually assembling it, run. as an engineer myself I'm certain this company has more engineering hours invested on fitting it into the box than they did the actual dresser. once together it seems alright though there's a few things that I don't like, mainly the greasable drawer slides that came loaded with grease combined with offset drawers so said grease is directly over your infant's clothes. Seems others have had scratches/quality issues but mine did not, mine came with enough cardboard and packing material to fill 1/3rd of our two yard dumpster.

Fits perfectly with the rest of the set in my sons bedroom!

definitely comes in a million pieces you have to put together but instructions are easy to read and understand! Looks perfect with the crib! Love how the drawers have the restriction pull so when they are super young they can’t open the drawers very easy! Very sturdy!!

DO NOT BUY THIS FURNITURE! Listen to the reviews. I didn’t and thought maybe it would be fine and the paint wouldn’t chip off. Maybe those people were being too rough or etc. I couldn’t have been more wrong! I should’ve listened to my gut and not made this purchase—such regret! We’ve had the dresser and crib for a month. One month and it’s already got several large chipped marks on the top of the dresser. That’s with just changing a newborns diaper on a changing pad. Not the wear and tear of a toddler or etc. I’m absolutely disgusted at the amount of money we spent on this furniture and the fact that this happened. It’s grossly apparent that Target has zero respect or regard for their customers money and desire for quality. Ever review is awful. Every review talks about the paint chipping and etc. I regret making this purchase, but it’s the only set I could find in our price range. Now, due to shoddy quality, we will be out twice as much money trying to buy something else.

Arrived with scratch across the top. This dresser takes 2 hours to put together and that’s by a skilled person . The top is the last thing in the box , last step. It has a huge scratch across the top.

The dresser is great quality. However, the directions are terrible. As well there is a faded spot on top and a damaged corner. Very disappointed in that with the cost being as it is.

I love our crib that goes along with this dresser. It's well made, sturdy and beautiful so when we moved and our boys needed new dressers we decided to buy 2 of these (one for our toddler who is moving to a "big boy bed" that will still look nice with this dresser and the other for our baby who is getting the crib handed down to him). The lighter version is often out of stock so I was so excited to find it in stock and on sale! Fast forward to receiving the dressers. First of all, the boxes are HEAVY. They was delivered to the end of the driveway because the driver didn't even want to cary them to our door and they were hard for us to carry in and upstairs together. Every single piece is separate, you have to put together everything and it took HOURS. After my husband put together the first one I noticed the corner of the top piece looks like it had been crushed. There's a bit of chipping and the side is sort of coming off of it, it's rought to the touch. I figured I'd try to reach out to the manufacturer before we took everything apart, attempted to box it back up, and try to carry it out to take it in for a return. Then we open the second one, which was a total disaster. The first thing my husband noticed was a HUGE crack in one of the side pieces. There's no way we could assemble this thing. We start taking the pieces out one by one and 6 different pieces are damabed (cracked, chipped wood, defects in the design printing, etc.). Of course the top piece of this one is damaged in the same way as the first so we can't even use that to make one complete, undamaged dresser. I sent a message to the manufacturer. Praying they can send replacements and that the replacements will be acceptable because not only do I not want to put everything back in the box and try to carry the box out so it can be returned, but it's also sold out again so we wouldn't even be able to replace it with a new one (if we wanted to try a third time that is).

It’s beautiful, sturdy furniture, there was one piece missing we contacted the company directly and they shipped it out to us as quick as possible.

The guide rails that come installed are not even. One drawer is not even so it doesn't close properly. Predrilled screw holes didn't match up. Drawer sides and back coming apart.

We purchased this for our nursery and wanted something that would last a long time and serve multiple functions as my kiddo grows. We are very happy with the quality of this dresser. It took two of us a couple hours in the evening to put it together but all of the parts were included (with extras!) and the final product was better than expected. The drawers all slide smoothly, the wood doesn't feel like the cheap cardboard you sometimes get, and the dresser feels very sturdy. I was waiting to order the changing pad holder for it as I wanted to make sure it was high quality and I will definitely be making that purchase now!

Purchased the light color for our baby boy nursery. We love the color and assembly was easy with the directions. It took us a few hours to put together. Compared to other nursery furniture prices, it was great!

This dresser is easy to put together. It was a bit daunting when I first opened the directions, but it probably took around 2 hours. I did the frame by myself and then my husband assisted with putting the drawers together to finish them faster. I did not have issues with holes being in the wrong spot like others mentioned. I have the crib from my first kiddo and it does scratch easy.. really only noticed this after we moved and it had been in a moving truck.

Love the dresser, style, and color. But there were several errors while putting together. We received two of the same part (only needed one) and didn’t receive a part we needed, fortunately we could just drill a hole in the correct place of the extra part we received to make it work. The screws were also mislabeled in the packaging, MM was labeled as NN and NN was labeled as MM, we didn’t notice until the end when we were short screws and then had to go back and change out screws. For how expensive this piece is, I just feel as though these errors shouldn’t exists.

Beautiful sturdy piece. Looks exactly as pictured. Beautiful color (we purchased the rustic gray). However, the instructions aren’t the best and it’s a pain putting it together.
