about this item

Only at Target, find the December, 2011, Club Pick "Sister: A Novel" by Rosamund Lupton.

Both a gripping thriller and a heart-rending portrait of family ties, Sister marks the debut of a stunningly gifted storyteller. Winning instant acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, Rosamund Lupton's finely honed novel is the story of Beatrice and Tess, sisters who were worlds apart but fiercely devoted to each other. At 26, Bee had always struggled to understand the misadventures of her free-spirited younger sister. But when Tess's lifeless body is discovered in Hyde Park, Bee has to face bittersweet truths, fighting for justice when detectives try to dismiss the death as a suicide.

Written as a letter from Bee to Tess, Sister unfolds in tender and sometimes shocking scenes as Bee confronts Tess's world. Her sister was pregnant by a married man and the unborn child had tested positive for cystic fibrosis, and Tess had been determined to find a cure at any cost. Boldly confronting Tess's betrayers-including her lover and the doctors who were entrusted with caring for her-Bee realizes how vulnerable her sister truly was, and how much danger still lurks for anyone who gets too close to the truth about her death.

Sparking powerful questions about the brave new world of medical science and the lengths we would go to for family, Sister will keep your reading group enthralled.

Very fast read, interesting characters, and everything a great mystery thriller should be - it kept me guessing and second guessing right up until the end. The ending was a little ambiguous, but I thought it would make for some great discussion.see moreof the reviewer's review
