About this item
Drawn from an international forum held at the Seconda Università di Napoli, Italy, in November 2015, the 14 papers in this volume consider the impact of climate change on landslides around the world. It addresses approaches adopted by different countries and regions for the assessment and impact of climate change on rainfall patterns and other meteorological events that can cause slope instability; the evaluation of the severity of the impact of climate change on slope instability and landslide risk; the implications of climate change impact on slope design, landslide risk management, risk mitigation strategy, and risk adaptation measures; and the need for further work on slope safety preparedness. It provides country/region reports on Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Norway, the Russian Federation, Southeast Asia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UK, and the US and landslide-related activities; climate change projections and examples of research into the possible impact in terms of increased/decreased landslide activities; and the regulatory framework, multidisciplinary hazard assessment, landslide risk management, adaptation measures, and priority areas for further work.
