I'm a bit of an ice melt snob. I'll only use calcium chloride. Rather than changing the melting point, it creates an exothermic reaction when mixed with water (or ice or snow) and melts the snow/ice by creating heat. It works to a much lower temperature (-25F) than salt and is better for the environ...see moreof the reviewer's review
