If you're a gamer or "nerd" as a previous reviewer so kindly put it this system will disappoint. We have an original PS1 but wanted a smaller condensed version for others areas of the house where less space is available. In a wave of excitement we purchased this item before realizing that no discs could be used with this version nor could anything be added to the collection preinstalled on the console. With limited game gameplay this made the price point high and so we returned it. The PS1 was a great system with so much available for all ages and abilities that limiting players who may be new to this era of gaming seemed unfair.

At the new price point of $19.99 and with 3rd party software the PS Classic is a must have for any gamer! Don't hesitate to get it while you still can. Look up info on what 3rd party software can do for it and you will be amazed at everything this little Playstation has to offer.

The controllers are great for emulation AND work on PS3, which is great for my large PS Classics collection. The hardware is... it's there. It looks the part but honestly is absolutely unusable unless you hack it and install the better emulator on it.

The new price-point makes this an exceptional purchase. Owning any of these on physical discs or digital downloads would be more cumbersome and expensive. The cons are well established and can be found on a myriad of articles or blogs, so I’ll be brief. PAL versions of some of the games listed here and some odd entries for a supposed best of compilation made me leery until the price drop. The controllers not having toggles and not including an adapter were annoying if you paid msrp; the original ps1 contrilollers were toggle-less. All can be easily overlooked for >$30. What you will be paying for is the potential of this unit. It’s computing power is actually amazing for its price point. I can’t tell you to void the warranty by “modifying” the unit with a memory stick. I also can’t suggest unlocking existing code.... For the price the existing games listed are well worth the sub $30. It’s a great buy if you can get it at a sub $30 price like I did. With loads of potential it’s a great reclamation project or diverting trip down memory lane.
