Description

The ZV-1 features a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor with DRAM chip and 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* large-aperture lens creating beautiful background bokeh (background blur), allowing the subject to stand out from the background. The camera locks on to and tracks subjects with high accuracy and speed using Sony’s leading-edge autofocus system. The ZV-1 also includes the latest-generation BIONZ X image processor with front-end LSI delivering high resolution as well as low noise for superior image quality. It also combines this exceptional imaging technology with high-quality and versatile audio options. The ZV-1 is Sony’s first compact camera with a side-opening Vari-angle LCD screen, making it easier to compose your shots in selfie mode while connecting external audio accessories. To meet any video need, the ZV-1 contains advanced video features including 4K movie recording and in-body image stabilization. Quickly Switch Between two Modes of Background Bokeh The ZV-1 offers a simple solution to easily switch between two levels of background bokeh while recording. Using the new Background Defocus function, users can rapidly adjust the optical aperture between more and less background defocusing blur without losing focus on the subject. Located on top of the camera, this Bokeh button is easily accessible and makes selfie shooting operation a breeze. Focus on the Subject You Want The ZV-1 makes it easier than ever to shoot product reviews and similar video content. Gone are the days of placing a hand behind an object to prompt the camera to bring it into focus thanks to a new Product Showcase Setting, which allows for quick and smooth focus transitions between the subject’s face and the object placed in front of the lens. Built on the leading-edge technology developed for Alpha and RX series cameras, this new compact camera includes advanced autofocus (AF) allowing it to lock on and track subjects with high accuracy and speed while recording. For maintaining focus on the intended subject or subjects in busy environments, Real-time Eye AF and Real-time Tracking AF for video allows the ZV-1 to seamlessly switch focus between multiple subjects while controlling the AF speed and tracking sensitivity. Prioritize Your Face Extreme changes in lighting, like walking outside on a sunny day and suddenly moving from a bright location into shade, are no problem for the ZV-1 thanks to the new Face Priority auto exposure (AE) function. It detects and prioritizes the subject’s face and adjusts the exposure to ensure the face is depicted at an ideal brightness in any environment. This AE technology also suppresses an abrupt change in exposure if the subject quickly turns away from the frame to eliminate unexpected blown-out or extremely dark shots. In addition, the camera features a new advanced color science that has been re-engineered to optimize skin tones for any subject in both still and video modes. Crystal Clear Audio High quality content requires clear, excellent audio quality, and the ZV-1 is well-equipped to produce just that with reliable and versatile audio options. The ZV-1’s onboard mic features Sony’s latest Directional 3-capsule Mic which was designed for forward-directional audio capture, allowing for clear capture of the subject’s voice while minimizing background noise, especially when operating in selfie mode. For added flexibility, the ZV-1 also features an industry-standard mic jack (3.5mm) and Multi Interface Shoe (MI shoe) making it easy to connect a wide range of external microphones. The ZV-1 is also supplied with a windscreen accessory that fits on the MI shoe to minimize wind interference.

Small but still too big to just take with you. I either use a 100-400mm A73 or my mbike phone. Even my VERY much loved 16-35 mm F4 is redundant. Its time for camera design to take a jump and somehow integrate lens and sensor tech with mobile technology and give up on the camera box concept.

I've had my ZV-1 for about 3 years, it's been a love hate relationship. The good: image quality, audio, and range of options in the menu The bad: negotiating the menu, stabilisation, battery life, lens could do with being wider, fiddly buttons, and the nightmare menu. I bought the ZV-1, thinking it was an upgrade for the X3000 - it wasn't

We absolutely love the camera. Problem is, we can't get the videos from the camera to the computer to edit them. The Play Memories app says every time I try to register that it's timed out!! I'm extremely frustrated with this part of the process. Basically have had the camera for 5 months and haven't used it. This really needs to be fixed.

Perfect Point and Shoot for all content creators

I bought this camera to use as my primary vlog camera due to how compact it is. after watching over 50 youtube videos to justify my purchase I found that the features and body of this camera would be a great point-and-shoot camera for travel vlogging. this camera can easily fit into your pocket, side of your backpack, jacket, or just held in hand. It is very discreet and provides great quality and decent audio with just the onboard microphone. the only con to this camera is the battery life but if you use this point and shoot in tandem with a DSLR as most vloggers do, the battery life isn't a big deal. Love all the sony products I have and how long they last.

Had this Camera now for just over a week! Having using a DSLR camera with different lenses for quite some time, this camera really is amazing if in comparison. Why? Well the features at your finger tips can produce some really professional pictures and amazing quality videos. I don't really know where to start...The camera is so light, so easy to use, and once you get chance to try all the options, you just need to hone in on those that you feel give you the results you need. Why professional? The quality of this camera from the lens to the software, to the way it so easily fits into your hand can but only help you create some amazing shots...I definitely recommend this camera! Most of all, it far surpasses in my opinion any mobile phone in taking pictures. Why? Because it allows you to concentrate on the great creativity that is available on this great product by Sony.

Sadly the camera was a big disappointment, with all the positive reviews , it must have been me i found a lot of pictures were very noisey also plenty were overexposed. The reason i bought the camera was mainly because of the class leading auto focus, and i found my fair share we not in focus and some were confused focusing when two people entered the frame. I have to say i was very disappointed . I have sent it back ,sorry sony i dont like it at all.

Good camera: crisp pictures & videos, lots of options for tweaking the shooting, but the view screen at the back is a problem. It's polarized the opposite way to sunglasses so it looks black when out & about in the sun.

It hasn't been that long since I bought the ZV-1, which is my first camera from Sony. I chose it mainly because of its size because some time ago I tried to vlog with my Nikon Z fc and when I put a mic on it, it was way too big and heavy to be convenient for vlogging. And since the sensor is much smaller, it doesn't suffer from rolling shutter that much. To be honest, I'm a complete beginner in video. I am mostly a photographer, though, so I know a bit about cameras and how they work. That's why I can appreciate that the ZV-1 has a lot of different shooting modes from complete autopilot to fully manual settings even with picture profile. Therefore, as I learn, it will grow with me and perhaps one day I will learn how to colour grade. When I first started to play with the camera, I was surprised at how good the picture quality actually is. This goes for both video and photos. This camera takes surprisingly nice photos and as it can shoot RAW, one can get even more from them. I like that the video can also be shot vertically, which is very handy in the time of Instagram Reels and TikTok. The ZV-1 has a built-in ND filter, which is very useful, however, 3 stops is not always good enough to shoot wide open on a bright sunny day. The camera comes with a windscreen for the built-in mic which can improve sound quality by quite a lot. I'm happy that the camera can produce decent audio quality without having to use a bulky external mic. But that is still an option. If there's something to complain about, it's the battery life. The batteries are very small and the camera doesn't come with a charging brick. One more thing I don't particularly enjoy is the Imaging Edge mobile app which for me being used to the Nikon's app is quite complicated to navigate. Also, I don't always succeed when I try to establish a wi-fi connection between my camera and smartphone. But maybe I just need to learn how to use it properly. Over all, I'm really happy with this camera and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for either a beginner camera primarilly for video (but it's very capable at photography too), or a camera that is small enough to take anywhere. It's inconspicuous, therefore it can be used in environments where cameras are usually not welcome.
