Terrible

Absolutely terrible. It worked well for a few months, but then it started going downhill. The speakers make beeping noises every few minutes that also pause the sounds coming from your video game. The headset will completely go silent and then I can’t hear anything, then it will transfer over the sound to my TV, then sometimes it will transfer the sound back to my headset. Or sometimes, it won’t transfer back to the headset at all and then I have to try to figure out how to fix the headset. Half the time my mic doesn’t pick up on the sound of my voice, and I have to move the mic so close to my mouth it might as well be inside my mouth. Overall, I definitely don’t recommend and wish I could get my money back.

NOT XBOX COMPATIBLE - 2 years ago
It says it's wireless but it isn't. Not for Xbox. And when you connect the very thin and fragile wire they give you, the Mic doesn't work. Steelseries is normally good but, it's not for xbox.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the artis wired headset which works great but the wireless artis 1 has become my go-to. I use it for meetings, gaming, listening to music and more. The wireless feature is the best because I can move hands free without the annoyance of staying wired.

These ones are cold bloooded! Best in class and great for work and play. The distance I travel for these for work is amazing. Almost can go as far backyard based of high channel router. Comfortable for 6-8hr shift. Didn’t feel too tight and cushion on ears. Runs through wires attachment usb and plug and play. Sound clarity amazing with noise cancel and detachable boom mic. Volume control and and mute button. Worth the price paid.

I didn't like these at all. The ear cups are very shallow and as soon as I put them on I could feel them pressing on/crushing my ears. Over-the-ear headphones shouldn't press on your ears. That's the whole point of over-the-ear. I have various other pro headphones for audio mixing and am used to comfortable headphones, I guess. I could tell as soon as I put these on they weren't going to work. They don't even have foam lining the drivers that touch your ears. I have a smaller head size and at the smallest size these felt slightly too big. I gave them a shot at least, didn't last 5 minutes. The eq is super bass heavy in an unnatural/unpleasant way. They seem decently well made I guess. I can't say I feel like they're worth $100. Comfort should be the primary design focus with headphones. I have a pair of cheaper beyerdynamics that are way more comfortable than these.

PC user - Defective? Returned after 1 week

cickpeatea - 4 years ago
I really liked the sleek design and comfort of these headphones, so I tried to make them work for a week before returning them today. The deal breaker for me was the frequent snap, crackle, and pop sounds I was getting while streaming on Twitch. My old wired headset didn't have this problem, so I reviewed the Steelseries headset/mic and OBS bit rates and made sure the mic was fully plugged in. I tried a couple other things, but the only one I refused was setting the sound EQ to flat in SteelSeries GG (product management app) because it honestly sounded much worse in comparison to "music" mode. For $100, I should be able to use different EQ settings at the very least!! PROS - Sleek design. The reason why I picked the Steelseries vs. other options at Target. - VERY comfortable ear cups. Would not hurt my ears after 5-hour gaming or TV sessions. I also have 5 piercings per ear so this was very impressive and the main reason I didn't want to give up this headset. CONS - Medium difficulty setup. After downloading SteelseriesGG and pairing the headset to my PC, the audio worked - but not the mic. I followed the Steelseries FAQ to troubleshoot, and it did not work. It somehow started working when I went to Sounds > Properties > Listen and check marked “Listen to this device” (not mentioned anywhere on Steelseries and random reddit threads). That brought the mic to life, and I was able to uncheck the box and save. - Confusing battery life LED indicator. It often would not update with the correct color indicator. For example, I would charge it to Green and then it would be Yellow as soon as I turned it on to use the headset. - Minor snap/crackle/pop issues in voice chat (Discord) and audio (listening to TV shows). My friend told me it wasn't bad, but sometimes my voice sounded choppy in Discord. Sometimes there would be audio lag. It wasn't the end of the world, but it was noticeable. - Garbage SteelseriesGG program. Whoever made this app needs to go back and work on it. You need this to set up the Bluetooth dongle pairing and in the future for viewing the battery life icon or changing EQ settings. However, the program never properly terminates after you close it, even after you've turned off your PC. I would have to run it as administrator and terminate all duplicate tasks 3x to get this app to even launch and load. And it's not even the regular .exe launcher! I had to dig around Program Files for another version of the app launcher and pinned it to Start. Finally, I wondered if the problem was my hardware - could I be maxing out my USB bandwidth? I picked up a HyperX Cloud Flight (wireless 2.4 Hz USB) on the same day after returning the Steelseries. Surprisingly, I did not have any issues. I even put the HyperX USB in the exact same USB 3.0 slot as the Steelseries USB Bluetooth dongle. Therefore, I am inclined to think the Steelseries USB was either defective or low quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sound is very good and the active noise cancelling is better than I expected. The headphones are very comfortable to wear and completely cover my ear creating a full seal. The depth of the base and clarity of the sound was very surprising when I first put them on. I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone looking for reasonably prices active noise cancelling headphones

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am slightly disappointed with these gaming headphones. All the pieces just pop off like the microphone and it made it a nuisance, I would have rather had it so that the microphone was attached and folded in. Otherwise it worked fine. Just not my favorite set.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so happy with these headsets. I do a lot of grouping and raiding in my games so I am constantly wearing headphones. These are extremely comfortable for longer time periods. I also love that the mic is moveable so I can make sure to position to how I want it and other can do the same. Every one on the other end says the mic is clear and I am able to be understood. The headphones have good sound quality and everything comes in crystal clear.

The wireless is great. makes its easier to get up in a hurry not worrying about the cord being attached to the system. The mic worked well in the games too. I didnt get any complaining about not being able to understand me. I also used these for work, Im a teachers assistant and virtually learning is hard to hear the kids. I was able to hear all the kids pretty well compared to just using my computers speakers. these things Rock

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great high-quality headset. I use it all day long. I use it for my online classes, and I also use it when I play games on my Switch. It is so easy to install and set up. I just connected the USB-C wireless dongle to my laptop and installed the Steel Series Engine. Also, it comes with a wire so if your headset is not charged you can still use it. I really like the detachable microphone. I only use the microphone when I am taking my online classes, so it is convenient to be able to take it off when you are not using it. Also, you can hear so much more with this headset. I play games on the Switch and when I put the headset on, I can hear things that I have never been able to hear when I play with just the normal sound on the Switch.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely love these headphones! I can’t believe how long the battery lasts. The sounds are so rich, deep and clear, and they are really comfortable. They fit well, have an adjustable headband, and the padding is soft on my ears. The wireless connectivity works flawlessly and friends have told me the microphone is really clear on the other end. The range claims 30 ft. I haven’t gone that far, but when I get up and walk to the other end of the room it never cuts out. I use these with my PS4 and wish I had them a long time ago.
