about this item

"The Step" gives a woman’s point of view about the exciting Apollo years at Cape Kennedy. During the early sixties women came into the work force as a secretary no matter what their degrees stated. In the VAB and around the Saturn V vehicle, women were deemed safety hazards if they wore dresses and failed to don a jump suit. Punishment followed. Walking across the catwalk in the VAB drew catcalls with sexual overtones.
