Forget the instructions. HERE is how you set the clock: Do NOT simply "touch" as the instructions say. If you do that, or tap, you'll just hear annoying beeps. Instead, hold down (like a smartphone "long/hard press") the CLOCK/TIMER button until "12 hr" appears. That may take 8-10 seconds. When the "12 hr" appears, enter the time on the number pad, then touch CLOCK/TIMER. The colon will now blink when the time is set. (If you want military time, simply touch the CLOCK/TIMER after the "12 hr" appears, and the "24 hr" will appear.)
As for setting cooking times BEYOND the 1-6 minute express buttons...again, forget the instructions because that will set the oven TIMER--which will count down without turning on the oven.
To set a cooking time of, say, 15 minutes, you FIRST need to touch the POWER LEVEL button, then enter "1500" on the number pad, then press START/30 SEC. 12 minutes and 30 seconds would be "1230," and so on. The oven will then turn on.
As I said, all of the above "problems" are attributable to poor instructions (possibly a communication issue at point of manufacture). It's unreasonable to think that SO MANY units would be defective.
700 watts is perfect for our needs. The unit is attractive, the glass plate doesn't wobble (the "spindle" was taped to the back of the inside of the oven), and the "done" buzzer isn't so loud as to be alarming. I also like that there's a reminder which sounds every 5 minutes or so, if you don't remove the food after the initial cook time is complete. And what a value at Target.
Sure, poor instructions are annoying, but this is still a 5-star item!
I bought this for my mom and her roommate to use in an assisted living. The legs are not level and they can't open the door. I was told when I called customer service that it is not covered under a warranty so I need to purchase suction cups??? I would not recommend buying this microwave...spend a little more money and get something else.
I had some issues with setting the clock as others have stated too. I found out that the user manual is incorrect after calling customer support at 800-324-0340. To set the clock, hold the clock/timer button down until hr12 or hr24 appears. Put in the desired time. Hit clock/timer again to lock in the time. Customer support was quick and helpful which is why they earned back the 5 star review.
Clock didn't work. Bought it today. Tried to set it several times - no luck. Contacted customer service and got an "overflow" operator that just wanted to take my number to have someone call me back later. Returned to store. Didn't give it one star because I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt that the rest of the features work. Didn't try any of the other features.
Unable to set the clock following instructions in manual, defaults to 1:01 and counts up from there. Returned to store, replaced with same; same issue. Nice compact size, though clock issue would indicate possible future issues.

I am so pleased with this microwave. I have limited space and this unit is perfect. It’s quiet unlike others I’ve tried. I prefer the button open to the pull handle as the door release it much smoother.
