I have been looking for a portable air conditioner for almost a year. There are many brands out there and I knew I wanted a 14,000 btu for the room size. After reading the reviews on this particular model I went ahead and made my purchase. I've had the unit since June and absolutely love it! It cools the room off very quickly, and it dehumidifies. I did not purchase the model that heats. Though it runs loudly (which I love btw), it works exactly as I wanted. I did notice my electric bill increased noticeably but that was also expected. I love the fact you can roll it into the walk-in shower to drain the unit, and I was able to fanagle the exhaust hose to work with my sliding glass door without an additional kit. I highly recommend this unit.

I am pretty disappointed with this unit so far. I have casement/sliding Windows, so I have no choice but to use a portable AC or pay nearly $700 for a vertical unit. I chose to buy this unit after looking at many options because it was meant to have a strong BTU and cool from 500-800 square feet...that is a huge stretch. I have a one room living/kitchen in my tiny department that is only 350 square feet and it only really cools the area right in front of the unit. I knew it would operate like a 12000 btu because you have to account for the heat from the hose, but this is still very disappointing and should at least cool the entire room. The installation was a pain because even if you adjust the window panel to fit the window and use the foam as instructed there are still big gaps and it wouldn't stay in place. I ended up having to duct tape the entire thing in place. The hose pops out so easily which is frustrating, so if you move the unit it pops off on one end. Also, the remote doesn't seem to "talk" to the unit for some buttons but works for others, so I find myself using the manual buttons. I considered returning the unit but it's so hot in LA that that is better than nothing, but not by that much.

Honestly this a/c unit is super disappointing. The exhaust hose does not fit properly and I had to tape it to try to cover the gaps to the unit and the gaps out the window. After all that there's still hot air leaking out. The directions say to just twist it in, but it won't stay, so when I would try to attach it to the window or unit it would just pop out. The window panel was a lot wider than I expected and barely fit into the window. I am unable to cut it down to fit the smaller window that I wanted, so that sucks. It sticks pretty far away from the wall and so not being able to put it at the window that I wanted is inconvenient because it sticks so far out into the room. There's also small gaps in the window panel, where the inside panel slides out, that I had to fill up with a towel because the foam that was included didn't do that well. The unit is supposed to cool a room up to 800 sq ft and it barely cools down my small bedroom, especially if the door is open. I leave it on all day and the room does get a little cooler, but not significantly. The window and through-the-wall units that I have used in the past have cooled the room down within an hour or 2, and did it so well that I would wrap myself in blankets. This is not the case with this unit. I am definitely concerned to see how my next electric bill looks. Another review complained about the noise, but I find it to be comparable to my past through-the-wall & in-window units. The unit itself looks nice, so at least it has a good visual design. Be aware of how heavy this unit is. The specs say 78lbs, and UPS said the entire package was 98lbs. So if you live up multiple flights of steps and/or don't have someone to help you carry it then I would suggest buying something else. Overall, I do not think this is worth the nearly $400 that I paid, and if it wasn't over 100 and humid here, and I had the time and money to return and replace this I would end up getting a window unit like I originally planned instead.
