Q: Has anyone used this on American Airlines? They only allow 14" width. At over 15" would this work? I really like this suitcase but it would need to work on American. Thanks if anyone has this I info.

It’s a great bag but we had to check it in with United. They said gate checked is usually what they would do if we didn’t check it in at the counter. This kind of defeats the purpose of a carry on plus it scratches it up. If you don’t fly with United you should be ok.

The bag tilts forward causing it to fall over when a backpack is carried on top. Also, swissgear does not sell replacement telescoping handles. I guarantee these handles will fail before anything else on the bag. I have had 2 earlier versions of this bag. I got this as a gift, otherwise would not have gotten it.

Swiss Gear is my go to for anything they make. My carry on has everything you could want. It expands if needed, has 2 front pockets that can more than my old carry on. Inside it’s pretty deep, has the straps that hold things in place, a wet pouch. The top is a netted zipper pocket & has a side netted zipper pocket as well. Plus I’m kinda partial to the navy blue since it matches my Swiss Gear backpack which slides nicely on to the telescopic handle. Maneuvering even with my backpack on top is so smooth & easy. Definitely a Swiss Gear fan!

I didnt realize that it doesn't include a side handle, so lugging it into the overhead bin is a challenge when its heavy. I thought all rollons had side handles, and didn't realize it until I was trying to launch into overhead bin.

First off, love the bag. I prefer the soft side bags because they seem more capable with a single side "fill" vs. a clamshell- more crannies to tuck stuff in. Note the gray color has the same wheels as the other 3 colors (it appears different in the photos). This was a welcome surprise. The only reason I gave this bag a 4 star instead of 5 is because the wheels brought filth on to our carpet. We arrived home late night, rolled in the bag, and were shocked by how our light carpet looked in the daylight from minimal rolling. Now comes the carpet scrub-a-dub. Is this the bag's fault, from sticky rubber wheels? It would seem so, b/c our other carry on left no trace, it's wheels seemed more dense, and these softer wheels seemed a gunk-magnet. A wipedown of each bag with a white washcloth confirmed the SwissGear bag carried lots more grime. So be sure to carry your bag over carpet, and routinely wipe the wheels clean!
