about this item

During the decade since the first edition appeared, says Elliot, several new texts have become available in English translation and he adds them to his synopsis. Among them are The Armenian Gospel of the Infancy, an Ethiopic version of The Infancy Gospel of Thomas, and two Sahidic Coptic extracts. Greek text-type "S" now replaces text-type "B" of The Infancy Gospel of Thomas, and he has included references to The Discourse of Demetrius and to The Priesthood of Jesus. Also new are two accounts of the Wise Men: The Revelation of the Magi and The Legend of Aphroditianus. Finally, he obtained permission to include extracts from the Liber Flavus. Passages from different versions of stories are juxtaposed for easy comparison. Annotation ©2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
