My TCL tv screen went black 1.5 years after purchase. The sound comes on and I tried ‘soft’ fixes but none worked. Apparently a common problem with this brand. I Will never purchase a TCL again.

Much better than the six year old brand i already had, the same tv but it was not 1080 p.. the old tv started to go to a black screen or turn off or not turn on; things like that while I was watching TV or trying to turn on the TV.. so after a couple months, I finally bought this newer one.. so much better can’t even describe to you and everything that I had already saved from the other TV through my files on my Roku app and all that other stuff automatically saved onto the new TV. Once I plugged it in that’s all I had to do plug everything in turn it on everything was there I didn’t have to re-download anything or anything like that it just all showed up and everything worked perfectly fine and of course the picture is much better. I love this tv

Missing power cord and remote

Purchased this in store, only to get home and discover there was no power cord or remote control in the box. Finally got a power cord to find someone else had purchased the TV and signed into all their accounts, then returned it with missing pieces. Must have been someone returned it, but would have been nice if the associates had taken notice of this before I purchased it and discovered it at home.

TCL 40" Model # 40S355 TV

Easy setup & the picture was bright & clear for a little over 4 hour's until the screen went gray & the picture never recovered. On the right side of the screen there was about a 3 inch wide dark line running vertical. I tried resetting the tv with no avail. So I sent the tv back to Target for a full refund. The worst thing that I did was to buy the exact same model only three weeks before for my wife to put in the other room. Luckily it is still playing, if you believe in luck in which I don't. I bought this tv on good review's and this is the first time I have ever been burned buying with the advantages of going with the higher percentages of the reviews that are 85% or better. I write reviews on a daily basis and I have did this for a great many years on all types of product's as well as being a field tester for outdoor product's. Reviews are very important for investors as well as consumers. I in no way would recommend this tv and as for a TCL tv I will never buy another. Solid made product's on todays market are rare, but sadly this product falls in the very common lot.

Malfunctioned within hours

I bought two of these TVs right before Christmas to give as gifts to my kids. Got the TVs set up, no issues. About 2 hours after one tv being on and in use it turned off on its own. I figure maybe it’s a power saving setting and tell my one kid to turn it back on and I’d go through the settings. The tv didn’t want to come back on right away. And then it did and almost in the middle of the screen was a thick black vertical bar. It definitely wasn’t there before. The picture had been great, no signs of an issue so it was all very random and sudden. I unplugged the tv to see maybe if a reset would clear it up, but no. The other tv has no issues and has had quite a bit of usage so maybe it’s a fluke for the one or it was handled rough before I bought it. I would just say buyer beware and read reviews before purchasing.

Picture was good and sound was OK but it only lasted from Nov. 19 to Dec. 28. Doesn't go on anymore and TCL is stumped. They told me to just take it back to Target. Of course all of the pre-holiday sales are over and I'm just out of luck at this point. Don't buy this TV.

Cool TV. One small Issue

Cool TV, just one small issue with getting the feet screwed in. It took alot of muscle to get the screws about halfway in, and I am skeptical about using a drill. This is a little aggrevating, as I want it to sit on it’s feet.
