Cheap TV But Gets The Job Done

First off, the sound on this TV is surprisingly decent through its own speakers, comparing it to my older 2015 Samsung. *Does not like to stay paired through the TVs HDMI 3 ARC port to my Yamaha reciever, however, and I've read that this is a common issue. Over-all the image is slightly better than the older Samsung which is 1080; I wasn't expecting a huge upgrade based on what I read doing research about the TCL 4k being "just barely 4k". I just wanted a bigger TV that generally looked as good or slightly better than the older one. Colors and clarity are good depending on the broadcast source and also DVD limitations. Turn off any screen improving features and things look better and less blurry. Also, TCL doesn't make a true 120hz TV, so don't buy into the "120hz CMI" BS if you absolutely have to have 120. Physically, the TV is heavier than expected and has a bulky back panel on the bottom that makes it somewhat awkward, but eh. It's a good deal for a basic TV that looks ok. You're average buyer will love it and only serious film buffs and electronics nerds will notice its shortcomings.

You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. Absolutely Infuriating

My room mates and I purchased this TV in september for the size and value of the product. After living with the television for some time it has proven itself to be the single worst piece of electronic equipment i have in my home. (yes worse than my toaster) The remote would be better purposed as a childrens toy as it is almost entirely unresponsive taking at least ten clicks for the TV to even respond. this makes it almost impossible to type titles for shows and movies or to even just turn up or down the volume. Every time we turn the television on it disconnects itself from the internet and takes at least three tries to get it reconnected again. It consistently has trouble loading up apps like netflix and youtube and sends us to glitched put error screens on the daily. Using this television is absolutely infuriating. Every day when i turn it on and have to reset my wifi connection numerous times i regret ever purchasing a TCL television. I have other roku tvs in my house that are absolutely wonderful but this one is far from it. Save yourself daily regret and frustration and buy a higher quality brand so you dont end up regretting owning this television as much as I do.

Fed up - 1 month ago
Have had this tv for a little over 1 yr. Shut it off last night, it would not come back on the next day. Called the manufacturer, even though it has been about 13 months that I have had the tv. I was told that there was nothing that they could do. After I was told this, I did some research and I found out that this brand is known for shutting off and not coming back on. (Black screen) It’s a junk product. I will NEVER buy another one.

Disappointed

We’ve had a small TCL tv for a couple years and it’s been nice. I like the interface w the apps and single remote, but I’m really disappointed with the picture quality of the 65” screen. It is dark- even at the brightest setting. Can really only watch it at night or with the shades drawn and the lights off. Even then picture quality is muddy. I am prey I bought it. Only consolation is I’ll probably watch less tv now. Spend the money on a name brand television. It’s worth the investment. I am reminded of my bad purchase every time I turn it on.

Lasted about a year and a half. Screen went black while watching tv and only could hear the sound while clicking the buttons. Pure junk. Called customer service even though I knew it was a 1 year warranty and was basically told sorry nothing we can do, pay to get it fixed. The bad thing is we didn’t even use the tv all that much so probably would of lasted even shorter period of time if we had and maybe it would of been covered under warranty. Last time I’ll buy a TCL. Strongly recommend going with another brand.

So far its good but not great yet. Still trying to get a super crystal or like a real pictures . Cant find any difference between a HDR (if this is really has one ) and a regular 4k. The price is good for the size and 4k.
