Q: Where is the vitamin E in the ingredients list? (The description states, "Aloe vera and vitamin E-enriched toner soothes and tightens pores." Don't see it in the ingredients.)

A: So I wondered the same think as I have been comparing/researching various witch hazel products and brands. I found on Thayer's website in the ingredient list "tocopherol" a nat occuring antioxidant (aka vit e) ... And the only product listed for product containing ingredient is their aftershave balm and that is the only vitamin e ingredient for their products and as I looked up each ingredient on the label, I know none of them are vit e ingredients so idk where the vitamin e comes from. I hope someone one can answer this cause I would be interested to see what it is. It may be one of the ingredients is loosely associated of distantly associated with vit e but I'm looking at my list of ingredients and their purpose and not a one mentions vitamin e. I know that really doesn't help though and I'm sorry

A: Hi there - thanks for reaching out. While our astringents do contain alcohol, they are not specifically formulated to be a substitute for hand sanitizer. Our Lemon and Original Astringent are excellent for cleansing, toning, moisturizing and balancing the pH level of skin. I hope this information helps!

A: The easiest way to apply is with a cotton ball or cotton rounds, like the ones that you would normally use for removing eye make up or applying skin toner. It is a liquid. The cotton helps remove old skin cells and other residue that may be left after cleansing skin. You can of course use it with your bare hands but be mindful to not get in your eyes as this one, the original thayers with witch hazel has grain alcohol. The other formula's or variations do not have alcohol but may still be irritating to eyes. All in all, best answer is to just use a cotton pad which easier and only cost $2 on target.

I made sure to use the whole bottle before submitting my review. I used this twice a day, morning and night, it lasted a little over 8 weeks. I’m 30, I have normal skin, drier in the cold months. No noticeable dark spots or bad wrinkles, I have light/medium skin tone with some freckles. I didn’t really notice a difference in my skin texture or appearance as much as other products I’ve used. On to the next toner.

I’ve used the no alcohol version of this forever, but they changed the ingredients. I switched to the alcohol version because it said it doesn’t have Phenoxyethanol. However it does along with other ingredient changes. I’ve included the ingredient list in the bottle that I just got from Target in a drive up order a few days ago. I just wanted to let others know who might be spending more to get a product with non toxic ingredients like me and then find out that it’s worse than the less expensive options. I’m done with Thayers unless they change their ingredients

Hi there, We want to clarify that the natural preservative Phenoxyethanol is considered a glycol ether, which acts as a solvent. Our Facial Toners are completely alcohol free. Our astringents however, are alcohol based, and this is reflected in the ingredient deck. There is less than 1% of Phenoxyethanol in our products and it does not react with other ingredients, air or light, making it a very stable and effective preservative. I can’t believe how soft and balanced this makes my skin feel. I have very dry skin but still am plagued with breakouts from sweating while wearing foundation, or sunblock or the occasional cystic breakout along neck and chin line. So on a whim I tried this astringent bc it was Unscented and reviews claim it to be gentle. This is a miracle worker at clearing up those breakouts faster than spot treatments or acne solutions from Clinique or other more expensive lines. For non-breakout times it is much better at balancing my skin and even lightening my dark spots (age and sun) than Clinique toner and dark spot correctors I have used for years. Couldn’t believe such a basic and inexpensive product could do so much. It’s the only toner/astringent product I am using from this point on. I also purchased the Thayer toner but after seeing how bright and balanced the astringent made my face, I’ve used only this as both astringent and toner. I always believed witch hazel products were harsh and only for acne-prone, oily skin. Can’t believe I waited this long to use such a simple and pure product.

I love this! I have had acne prone skin. As other reviewers stated, this formula tightens pores and clears skin. It is gentle and not drying to the skin. I am happy with my face! :-) I have purchased this for my daughter as well. My daughter is 12 and she was beginning to get those small bumps on her face. I had her to use a gentle face soap, this product, and a little natural aveeno moisturizer. It works!! My daughter quickly reminds me when she is out of this astringent. We love this stuff!
