Great razor for the price point

I was wary with all the reviews being promotional. I like many don't always trust reviews for free items or reviews that are imported from mfg websites as they are easy to skew. Now with that said, I am coming in having already an Edwin Jagger, a Merkur 34c, and a Muhle R89. Fit and finish wise it is definitely far better than the Merkur. I don't think it is as nice as the EJ was brand new as far as I can recall, but the EJ is my oldest razor and the finish has began to wrinkle and pit. So I am interested to see how the AOS holds up. The Muhle is the nicest, but also weighs in at double the cost of the other 3. As for balance I actually like the AOS the best, EJ 2nd, Muhle 3rd, Merkur 4th. Closeness of shave: Merkur, then the other 3 all tie for 2nd. However the Merkur gives the most skin irritation and the other 3 give a smoother experience. All in all this is a great razor at the middle of the road price point and is made in Germany. Far better than the Bevel, Olivina, and Van Der Hagen. The last 2 of which are the same generic Chinese variant as the Microtouch in different packaging.

There's Nothing Like A Safety Razor

I've been shaving for a very long time and had never used a safety razor before and was a little intimidated. When I was a kid, I remember watching my Dad and Grandfather shave with them and they would frequently nick themselves. Nothing like that here, no nicks or razor rash. I normally use a multi-blade pivoting head razor, so it took little practice to get the hang of it and to achieve the desired closeness. After just a few days of shaving I found that I could get just as close a shave. I enjoyed using the Art of Shaving Gillette Safety Razor and continue to shave with it. First Safety Razor, But Not Last

Never used one of these before. I love the inexpensive refills for the blades and simplicity of it all. I always hated throwing away the mostly plastic heads of my four or five blade razors. I still like the feel I get from the 4-5 blade razors, but the single blade gets pretty close. I just need to experiment with gels and shaving creams. Also, I plan to make my own handle for this out of wood. I like that it can be customizable. I'd definitely recommend this. Wish it came with a stand or holder. Also, I'd buy these as gifts and customize them. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Definitely different, but worth a try

I have a full beard that I do shave from time to time so I tried this and it was a different experience compared to the 5 blades I usually shave with. You have to be quite careful when shaving, but it gave the closest shave I've ever gotten, and minimal razor burns and ingrown hairs. Impressed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I got this safety razor free as long as I agree to review it. It's not a bad razor. It looks all shiny and pretty but it's only got 4 blades which I no longer use. It's light weight and works well around the chin and jaw area with no irritation. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Best Shave Ever

I've discovered that those disposable plastic razors, no matter the brand are junk. I've always used the higher quality razor with interchangeable cartridges. I didn't realize just how bad those razors were as well until I tried this safety razor. Before trying this this review program I had heard of the safety razor, but was always skeptical to try them. After my first shave I couldn't believe how smooth my face was and it didn't even feel like I was shaving at all. I didn't have to go back over any spots. I'm definitely sold and will not purchase anything else. I will definitely be recommending this product to anyone that will listen. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Extra close shave

I'd never used a straight razor before and was a little intimidated. The directions were simple to follow and I have been pleasantly surprised by this razor. Super close shave, way better than the razors I've been using. It's not hard to use, well built and easy to handle and I love how great the shave is! I highly recommend this razor to others for a better shaving experience. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I shave daily, as I am very hairy, and this razor EXCEEDED my expectations! I honestly wasn't expecting great results from a safety razor, but this thing blew me away. It is still sharp and has given me a close shave daily for the past couple weeks. Definitely a great product! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
