Book Synopsis

"Mallery is an expert at writing about strong women, their friendships, and their romances." --Booklist

Susan Mallery, author of the Fool's Gold romances, cheerfully invites you to Wishing Tree, where Christmas comes to life...

The Somerville sisters believe in love, but they've lost faith it will happen for them. Reggie hasn't been home since the end of the world's shortest engagement. When her parents decide to renew their vows, she buffs up her twinkle to help with the Christmas wedding. Unexpectedly, Toby, her first love, is back too, and the spark between them shines as brightly as ever. In the spirit of the season, will they let go of past hurts and greet the New Year together?

Done waiting for the one, Dena is pregnant and on her own--on purpose. But then a gorgeous, sad-eyed songwriter checks in to a room at her inn. Micah, unable to write since he lost his wife, finds inspiration in Dena's determination to be a mom. One snowflake-speckled kiss and he's a goner. But Dena is afraid to believe that a rock star could fall for a cookie-cutter small-town girl like her.

As the Christmas wedding draws closer, these two sisters just might unwrap the most treasured gift of all--love.

A whimsical town built around Christmas, where a Great Dane is the pivotal character in a love story or two. What better way to get in the holiday spirit than to visit Wishing Tree? A feel good story through and through.

The Christmas Wedding Guest by Susan Mallery was a great way to kick off a new series. The Christmas town of Wishing Tree is a great back drop. It’s just quirky enough. I truly enjoyed the build up to the sisters final romance stories. The male characters were great. I could see both of the stories happening in real life. The side stories of the parents vow renewal, friends & the Christmas project fit in nicely. I’m a dog lover & the dogs stole the show! I recommend reading this one.

Magical New book

I LOVED this book! It was so much fun to get into and the small town its based in sounds magical. There are 2 sisters helping their parents with their vow renewal since they eloped and didnt have a real wedding. They both come with their own lives and all that entails, but they are such a close family that it almost made me jealous. Reggie's Great Dane in her fashionista outfits and almost comical terror due to her Dad's 22 lb dachshund had me laughing often. This is one you'll want to pick up for sure!

I look forward to Christmas novels every year. Susan Mallery did not disappoint with this one. Wishing tree is a place I'd love to live. Heartwarming story about renewing love, past loves that shaped them and the new loves that offered hope for the future for two sisters who come home to celebrate their parents love. This is one you won't be able to put down. Feel good holiday story. Can't wait to see what is in store next for the town of Wishing Tree.

I’m so excited Susan Mallery decided to start another series! I love being able to “check in” on the previous characters and see how they are as I don’t think 300-400 pages is ever enough for ones I really like! I love have Susan writes. She can make you feel like you’re walking downtown in on of her fictional towns and can see all the details. You can’t help but root for Reggie and Dena in this book to find their “people.” And Leigh (their mom) is entertaining. I do wish she had a little bit of a bigger role in the book! Of course there are a few bumps in the road but that’s what makes the book, keeps you on your toes! A great read that I didn’t want to put down!

Great new series!

The Christmas Wedding Guest is the perfect beginning to a new series. The characters are so realistic and lovable. They have such a wonderful relationship with one another, as siblings and with friends, even the dogs have their own storyline. I laughed and cried and didn’t want to put it down. The best part of the story is the town itself. Wishing Tree is a town like no other. Anyone who loves Christmas will love the businesses, the “town square” and the wonderful traditions that make up Wishing Tree. Susan Mallery does such a wonderful job creating these fictitious little towns that she makes you want to move there yourself! I am anxiously waiting for the next installment!

I usually have a hard time reading “Holiday” books anymore. Life experiences over the last handful of years had just left me too jaded I think. I was prepared to just read the book and get through it. I was not prepared to love it. This new series is set in such a fun little town. I would visit tomorrow if it was real. HAHA The characters are always so real that you feel like you could walk next door and ask to borrow some sugar. The love stories for these sisters had their own bits of drama but nothing felt too drawn out and ridiculous. I definitely can’t wait for the next story and some new characters.

Welcome to Wishing Tree the small town that is the setting for Susan Mallery’s newest series. She has written several small town romances Fool’s Gold, Happily Inc and Blackberry Island to name a few. She is an expert at creating unique traditions in these small towns. I loved Belle, Reggie’s Great Dane a dog afraid of dogs a quarter of her size but she is also protective of her loved ones if she thinks they may be in danger. We get two stories in this book, sisters Reggie and Dena. While this book takes place during November and December the descriptions in this book will transport you to that time of the year. This is a great start to what I am sure will be a great series.

This is a great new book by Susan Mallary! I love how the town is centered around Christmas, the first snow and town wreath. It's a magical Christmas story about finding true love, revisiting the past, and family. It's a quick read and hard to put down once I started it. The audiobook is great too! Tanya Eby always does a great job narrating. Visit the magical town of Wishing Tree to get into the festive mood.

Wishing Tree would be a fun place to visit

I'm always excited when Susan comes out with a new book. This book introduces a new town called Wishing Tree, where eveyone gets in on the over the top Christmas celebrations. It's full of fun and quirky traditions. The story follows two sisters who are very strong women who aren't looking for a relationship. Reggie returns to town with her fun dog Belle to help with her parents wedding when they decide to renew their vows. She hasn't been back since she was dumped shortly after her engagement and she soon runs into her first love, Toby. Dena has decided to have a baby on her own since she hasn't found anyone yet to share her life with. It was interesting to watch these two strong women grow their relationships. I did find it a different twist, that it was the men in this story that were broken and the women were the strong ones. It will be fun to explore more of Wishing Tree.

GREAT Read

I am a devoted reader of all Susan Mallery's books and this book is by far my favorite one! It is about two sisters and their love life. One sister (Reggie) left town and only came back to visit because of her parent's upcoming wedding that she is to help plan. Reggie's broken engagement has kept her away from visiting her loved ones and friends. Her sister Dena is a teacher and the owner of a local B&B. This book had my emotions all over the place and truly rooting for them to find true love also. Susan knows how to have her readers feel everything that each character is feeling throughout the book. I found myself rooting for each and every one of them and what they were going through. I highly recommend this book to everyone to read. I pray that Susan continues this series as well. This book was so addicting for me that I pushed my midterm essay aside to finish reading this book.

Love and Snow in Wishing Tree

It’s fall! That means Pumpkin Spice Lattes, a chill in the air, and Christmas books and movies! Yes, it’s time for Christmas. Decorations are appearing in stores, ads are showing telling us what to shop for, and I just read my first Christmas book. THE CHRISTMAS WEDDING DRESS is the first in a new small town series by Susan Mallery. Mallery has given us series based in Fool’s Gold, Mischief Bay, Blackberry Island, and Happily, Inc. Now, we have Wishing Tree, Washington, a town focused on Christmas. All year long. Mallery recently released a novella, SAY YOU’LL STAY, that introduces the town and some of their traditions. In THE CHRISTMAS WEDDING GUEST, we meet the Sommerville sisters. Dena lives in Wishing Tree. She’s a teacher and owns a local B&B. She’s given up on finding “the one,” and is having a baby via a donor and IVF. Reggie lives in Seattle, but has come back to Wishing Tree to help her parents plan their vow renewal ceremony. Last year, she was engaged and dumped in the same Thanksgiving weekend. Micah is a grieving rock star who lost his song writing mojo when his pregnant wife was killed in a car accident last year. His friend invites him to Wishing Tree to heal and help out at his Christmas tree farm. Micah never expects the sweet and attractive owner of the bed and breakfast where he’s staying to be the inspiration to get him writing again. Toby left Wishing Tree at eighteen, intent on leaving behind his pain, including ex-girlfriend Reggie. But circumstances brought him–and his young son–back to town. It’s too bad he and Reggie still have a spark, because his son comes first, and he won’t allow anything–or anyone–to disrupt that order. I love Mallery’s new setting of Wishing Tree. It’s fun and quirky, just like Fool’s Gold and Happily, Inc. Her characters feel real and have real problems and real reasons why they can’t get together immediately. There are a couple of adorable dogs, Belle and Burt, that add to the holiday fun. I highly recommend this book! ------- I received a free advance copy of this book from the publisher, but that did not induce me to review it, favorably or not. I just happen to love well-written, quirky, small town, holiday romances.
