pops really well, but be forewarned the top gets really hot so handle with care when emptying the popcorn into your bowl. I found that using the cup/lid to melt butter was not the best idea. It is hard to clean for some reason. I just use it as a lid and melt butter in another dish in the microwave.  see moreof MarilynMc's review
