I bought this "classic" game for our 9 year old granddaughter. It is DREADFUL! THE money amounts are completely unrealistic, the turns for free money are ridiculous, the action cards are absurd. It has nothing to do with any life that is recognizable. Shame on Hasbro. This was an embarrassment to play. It has no value. No fun. Horrible message.
I wish I had known how different this new version is. I like the changes to the board with the different paths but the rest of the game is ridiculous. The original was much more realistic to the ups and downs of life. In this game you win money for the silliest reasons. You even get paid to go on vacation. Rarely do you have to pay money for anything.
It was disappointing. I was expecting the classic Life game but this was so busy and junky. It was distracting and not fun at all. I returned it and ordered the original Life game but had to go somewhere else because Target doesn’t carry the classic version.
The game was in great condition, everything was there. As far as that goes, I am happy.
However...the game was boring. All you do is spin, land on a space and do whatever it tells you. There is no decision making skills, you just go with the flow. Land on the baby space, you get a baby. Land on Action card, you keep them all and automatically earn 100k at the end of the game for each card. Life is not like that, hopefully, if you're a critical thinker, nor are you lucky enough to just money for nothing. It's just not stimulating to me. Back to Monopoly for me...
I played The Game of Life when I was a kid in the 90's, so I was worried I wouldn't like this version as much. It's actually a bit more fun! We like the pet element, that all Life and pet cards are worth money at the end, and there's a lot more interactive play on all turns. Fun for my son and me! Also, the spinner is kinds wonky, but we don't care. Still fun.
My persona review as an adult would be much lower as the concept of money is so inflated it’s ridiculous. But alas my 6 & 7 year olds love it so that’s what matters to me. Also can concur with several other reviews the wheel is terrible and so hard to spin.
