Description

The secret to an extraordinary life starts with five simple changes that anyone can make.

No matter who you are, where you come from, what you do for a living, or how much money you have, everyone has a shot at greatness.

Zack Friedman has inspired millions with his powerful insights, including more than fourteen million who have read his advice in Forbes.

In his ground breaking new book, The Lemonade Life, Friedman starts with a fundamental question: What drives success? It's not only hard work, talent, and skill. The most successful people have one thing in common, the power to flip five internal "switches." We all have these five switches, and when activated, they are the secret to fuel success, create happiness, and conquer anything.

The Lemonade Life is filled with inspirational and practical advice that will teach you:

  • Why you should write yourself a $10 million check
  • Why your career depends on the Greek alphabet
  • Why you need ikigai in your life
  • How Judge Judy can help you have better work meetings
  • How these twenty questions will change your life

Learn from the entrepreneur who failed 5,126 times before becoming a billionaire, the fourteenth-century German monk who helped reinvent Domino's Pizza, the technology visionary who asked himself the same question every morning, the country music icon who bought more than one hundred million books, and the ice cream truck driver who made $110,237 in less than one hour.

With powerful stories and actionable lessons, this book will profoundly change the way you live, lead, and work. Your path to greatness starts with a simple choice. Everyday, you're choosing to live one of two lives: the Lemon Life or the Lemonade Life. Which life will you lead?

BEST BOOK I’ve read in years! Learned to see myself and the world differently

“Buy experiences, not things”. I couldn’t agree more. I just got back from taking my children on a trip of a lifetime to Costa Rica. As a single mom being able to do this was a dream come true. To be able to live for today and not wait for the “right moment”. While I was away, I read “The Lemonade Life” and I truly could relate first hand to everything Zack Friedman wrote. It was as if he was speaking to me directly on how to live and live with purpose. I am blown away with how I felt he got me and my situation as a hard working, ambitious single mom. He confirmed that what I am doing is the right thing in my eyes no matter what others think. He taught me that you can follow the beat of your own drum so to speak and not follow the crowd. This book showed me how to live my life with purpose and not for someone else but for me - and to not prove to anyone but myself that I can do it. I can be happy first and success will follow. The Lemonade Life is the perfect book for anyone who needs a friend to give them the tools to live a life of purpose but doesn’t tell you what to do. That’s for you to make the right choice and Zack delivers with every word on the page. I can’t wait for the follow up book to The Lemonade Life to come out. I’m hooked for sure! I love this book!! Thank you, Zack for your priceless tools of wisdom.”

I loved reading The Lemonade Life! This book spoke to me and changed the way I think about life. Before, life was-as the author Zack Friedman explains-much of a rat race. It felt like I was doing the same thing day in and day out...going to work, raising kids, taking care of the family. I wasn't spending enough time thinking about the bigger world around me. The Lemonade Life completely opened my eyes to "leading a life with purpose and possibility." Zack Friedman is brilliant and this book has the right balance of practical advice, inspiring content, cool stories and kick in the pants advice I needed to hear. Zack teaches you how to be happier. He teaches how to be happy at work and how to hold yourself accountable. He talks about being independent and stop keeping up with the Joneses. He advises us to stop settling and pretending and start living with purpose and meaning. My teacher friends all love this book. I could also see how entrepreneurs love this book too. The Lemonade Life is definitely for the life for me and I am already applying his teachings to my everyday life. I can't recommend this book enough - it's amazing!

When I first read the title of this book, I thought "oh look another book on being a happier shinier version of me...making the lemons in my life into lemonade...yea yea"...boy am I glad I gave this book a chance and read it! This book is way more than a few feel good stories for you to compare yourself too, the lemonade life gives you actionable "switches" you can make in your life to be able actively live your life with purpose and endless possibilities. Instead of a recipe for lemonade you get a recipe for "the lemonade life", the life we all want to live, the beginning pathway to leading a fuller life where we actively reach our full potential each and every day. The book is organized well into sections and is easy to follow. I enjoyed the diagrams, charts, and exercises throughout the book, which kept me personally engaged as I was reading. This is my life, today is my day, and with the author's advice in this book I am putting in the hard work to live "the lemonade life" and become a "lemonade lifer"! I highly recommend this book, great read for anyone! I received an early copy of this book from HarperCollins Leadership, but all thoughts and recommendations are solely my own.

"The Lemonade Life" is a book that challenges, encourages and pushes you out of your comfort zone. Very few of us think about the small choices we make each day that end up becoming our routines, and Zack Friedman is here to shake you up! The book begins with a series of exemplar "types" in regards to our work habits and relationships. Friedman introduces us to the Lemon Lifers: The Eternal Excuser, who never takes responsibility for their work or their mistakes, The Steady Settler, who decides they can live with the status quo as long as it doesn't require much of them, The Change Chaser, who is always looking for the "next big thing" in their work life or otherwise, and finally, The Daring Disrupters--the ones who actually look for opportunities to change or improve their lives by reaching towards a unique dream, no matter the roadblocks that might lie ahead. Friedman is conversational in tone, but don't let that fool you. He will make you reconsider all that you're letting drift by and encourage you to embrace The Lemonade Life, which is his moniker for building an extraordinary life that you don't need a vacation from. The processes in the book allow the reader to self examine, correct tough behaviors that stymie growth and learn from their mistakes by keeping a positive outlook. His passion shines through the message, illustrated with unique examples of those who are actively living The Lemonade Life. I finished this book feeling encouraged, but also directed towards making better decisions to balance my work life. Accepting accountability, reaching goals and having a brighter outlook for the future is paramount, and Friedman gives the reader advice from someone who has been in their shoes. This book would be a great motivator for someone newly entering the workforce, someone who is coming back to work after a hard season, or someone looking to expand their knowledge on making decisions that benefit both the worker and the organization, church, non-profit or business as a whole. When your employees feel better, their work will improve. If they feel they are making a difference, your organization can only benefit. I was pleasantly blessed by this book and the encouragement it provides. I was an early reader, thanks to Harper Collins Publishing. I chose to leave a review and all opinions are my own.

In The Lemonade Life, author Zack Friedman presents readers with five internal "switches" that can be flipped to help lead them to their greatest potential and happiest life. I enjoyed reading the personal stories of different people throughout history who successfully followed the ideas presented in the book. The author uses a lot of lists throughout the book, as well as clever names for concepts. Many will appreciate this style, I found it to be a little distracting at times. While I don't think I was the intended audience (I do not work in business, nor do I have any plans to), I took quite a bit away from this book. I found it to provide a lot of encouragement, simple ideas and practical advice. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher.
