The Summer of Keeping Secrets is a different type of story for Jill Lynn. I appreciate how well she transitioned into adding a mystery element to her story. A family ensconced in grief comes together to clear out the parent's/grandparent's home to sell it. All three have hard things going on in their lives and have been keeping secrets from each other. As is always the case, secrets have a way of coming out. Slade is looking for a distraction when she comes to help her mother clean out her grandparent's house. She finds it in the form of a man dying on their property years ago with no clear answers. As she works to solve the mystery, she uncovers more than anticipated, without realizing how deeply it will affect those around her. While the story should have been heavy with everyone dealing with grief, it wasn't. It is very hopeful, with working through their issues, and their grief. The story moved at a nice pace, and the mystery made the story hard to put down. Thank you to JustReads Publicity and the author for the opportunity to read this book. The Summer of Keeping Secrets by Jill Lynn is a stand alone novel about the Henderson family. Recently widowed, Marin Henderson, her son, Reed, and her daughter, Slade, travel to Dillon, Colorado to clean out Marin’s parents’ home. Slade, finds a very old newspaper clipping about a death on the rocks below their home. The story follows the complications in each of their lives as they untangle the story. The Summer of Keeping Secrets by Jill Lynn weaves together the lives of three family members magically to make a very unique story. The author deals with hard hitting issues in the characters’ lives, but the story is not heavy. I was very invested in the characters and finding out what happened with the mystery of the found body. The characters were well developed and it was a pleasure to watch them transform in this redemptive story. The beautiful setting of Dillon, Colorado enhanced the story. I appreciated the mystery, romance, and beautiful relationships in The Summer of Keeping Secrets. This lovely redemptive story is one that I will remember and reflect on. I highly recommend The Summer of Keeping Secrets by Jill Lynn. I was a given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.

The Summer of Keeping Secrets, is aptly named, as Marin Henderson and her two adult children are all hiding something unbeknownst to one another. Reconvening in Dillion Colorado with the mission of purging her parents home to be listed, the secrets start to spill, when the house itself reveals a mysterious death on the property in 1990. Every choice, whether done out of protection or for another reason, has implications. Author Jill Lynn, does a phenomenal job of dialoguing each characters internal struggle with revealing their secret as well as how complicated making a choice can be. Through a beautiful analogy of wounds and scars, Jill reminds readers even when a hurt has healed, it still results in a scar, a physical reminder of all overcoming. The Summer of Keeping Secrets is a must read this summer, enjoy the picturesque town, sprouts of romance and the unique parenting adult children perspective; especially the uncertainty of when to offer advice and when to not to, amongst the parental lifelong desire to put ones children’s needs first and the different ways individuals process grief after loss.
