about this item

Though Mu'tazili theologian Abu l-Qasim al-Balkhi/al-Ka'bi had considerable followers and a good reputation during his lifetime, says Omari, he left no posthumous school in which his theology would be represented without bias, and none of this theological works have survived. In addition, little is known about his philosophical predecessors. Nevertheless, she reconstructs his thinking from fragments of his work quoted in antagonistic sources. Her source criticism looks at four testimonies, then she considers the theology in terms of the attributes, justice, epistemology, the doctrine of nature, and the Imama.
