Walking through the gate is easier than 1, 2, 3 with the Toddleroo by North States® Arched Auto-Close Gate with Easy-Step. With its low threshold, arched door (measures 18 inches wide), and gray finish, you get function and style bundled up in one incredible design. The gate is easily shut with one hand, for all those times you have to pass through with a baby on the hip. For added convenience, the gate has a door stopper which keeps the gate swinging in only one direction; gate will also swing both ways when door stopper is not in use, and offers a triple locking system for peace of mind. To keep the gate open for multiple pass through, simply use the hold-open feature to prevent the gate from closing. The gate pressure mounts easily by using tension knobs to secure the gate in place. Ideal for a variety of room openings or hardware mount for use at the top of the stairs measuring 28.75 to 38.25 inches wide with two extensions included and is 30 inches high.
Really sturdy & attractive. I like that you have the option of leaving it unlocked so that it just needs a slight lift of the handle to walk right thru easily most of the time, but when I want to lock the dog in, it’s extremely secure. And, it self-closes and can be propped open w/the stand. Installed it easily myself
I ordered this online because we don't have a Target nearby. So it was a fingers crossed, really hope these work out kind of deal. I viewed multiple similar gates, but this was the only one that opened both ways, stayed open if opened all the way but would also automatically close if you wanted it to. They also come with 2 expansion pieces for reach gate, and the wall protector cups are included (which can get spendy otherwise). We have weird woodwork with our staircase/ a window on the other side, so only a pressure gate would work at the bottom of our staircase. Our 14mo old absolutely loves climbing the stairs nonstop. That's why I went with this one. These were very easy to install. All tools are included. You will also have the option to screw the wall protector cups into the wall. The gates are very sturdy (I ordered 2), as they're metal, they've only moved (very slightly) because my older boy (age 7) couldn't figure them out and yanked on them. The wall cups protected both the woodwork and my walls (we have the old plaster walls). My baby can't figure them out. He sat at the bottom of the stairs and cried until I showed him they open. So they do their job. Now he enjoys using them to pull himself up and climb, so he will stand against them. They do not move when he does this. They also have a bonus feature, where you can lock them at the top (where you open the gate) so that when your baby or young child (probably age 3-5) figures them out, you can take he extra measure of keeping them safe with a second lock. The only thing that isn't as advertised is that they're supposed to be grey. They look like more of a greige (grey+beige). At first I thought they were tan, until I compared them to my grey walls in the kitchen and my beige curtains.
With multiple doorways to secure from the Toddler Monster roaming our house while still being able to function, we wanted a second gate to match our other arched gate from North States. So not only do I recommend this item, we use it and bought a second one to match the first.
I just installed the gate and so far so good. I am a single mom and had no problem installing the gate myself in minutes. You can leave the gate open or it will swing shut if you don’t open it all the way. I am 5’10 and they are pretty tall to step over but you can do it. The gate is not a pure white more of a beige but goes nicely with my white trim. I am very pleased with my purchase.
This is a really good gate. The "step" is one of the least high in all the models I've looked at before deciding upon this one. My one complaint is that, after a few months of use, the latch to open and close the door became defective, as the door swings open and closed without needing to use this latch. Good thing my 1.5 year-old baby hasn't figured this out yet! But as time progresses, she soon will figure this out and be able to get into the kitchen, rendering this gate useless.
I love this product. It's heavy duty & sturdy. I like that it has a door verses having to step over the top of the gate. The door swings both ways which is very convenient! It's easy to put up and easy to operate. The only problem I see is the little lip you have to step over once you open the door to the gate. Young children and the elderly may have an issue with this and it may pose as a fall risk.
