As others have said, this doesn't taste great, but it's not horrible (it definitely didn't make me gag or anything nearing the extreme things that other reviewers have said). Given that it only uses monk fruit as a sweetener, it's not that bad – you can't expect something with almost no fat and no carbs to taste like a chocolate milkshake, let's be realistic. It's not really chocolatey, so if that's what you're looking for, I'd try a different brand. It does have a really good macro profile, and I found that it didn't taste chalky at all when mixed in a shaker bottle with plant milk and water. That being said, I'm definitely glad I only bought the sample size, and I won't be buying the full size.
since it's opened though, I'm sure it's not. I bought it in the Target store thinking since it was a plant based chocolate protein powder that it would probably taste OK. I mixed it with water and almond milk and it really is not good. Has a weird, off putting coconutty taste? I've looked at it a couple times to see if there's coconut in it or if I somehow got a coconut flavored one, but it says chocolate. and there are no coconut ingredients. I assume it's the sweetener or one of the plant proteins that provide the off taste. I probably won't use it as I don't think I'll get used to the taste. And - as others have already pointed out - the container really is only half full.
I had bought Tone It Up’s ORGANIC Chocolate protein powder at another store and really liked it. I have tried several different kinds of powder (plant and whey based). This was on sale at Target and I thought it would be the same general flavor as the organic, being chocolate and the same brand. But this tasted so much different. Like other reviewers said, it has weird, acrylic paint like smell and it does not taste good in my opinion. I recommend the Chocolate Organic from Tone It Up though but target does not seem to sell. They both have nice smooth texture though and blend well with water.
Terrible taste, container comes half full, and the smell is very chemical like
I would recommend 1.) not buying this. but if you're set on trying it, 2.) try the single serving pack target sells first.
