A: It does not include a bulb. A 3-way bulb is HIGHLY recommended because the way a 3 way socket is made could cause sparking with a one-way bulb. This could lead to a fire. It depends on the one-way bulb. There are a lot of opinions on this if you search the net. Technically it is possible. The manufacturer is warning you for liability reasons.
A: The warning label inside the lamp shade says to only use 3-way (50w max) bulb to prevent fires. The lamp does NOT include a bulb. It says so on the box. We purchased two of these lamps.
A: CLARIFICATION: You need an A19 3-way LED Bulb. For some reason the standard E26 and E27 3-ways Bulbs do not work in my lamps made in China. Just watch the LUMENS, the measurement of brightness. I won't use less than 1,500 LUMENS in our livingroom because we use a single lamp when watching TV. So, I have a 60/80/150 watt equivalent which in this LED Bulb pulls 22 watts in the highest setting for 1,500 LUMENS (or 150w equivalent). Beware, the lumens vary in LEDS.
A: The product under which these questions appear is NOT 3 way nor is it LED.
A: Hi hoth97 – Thanks for viewing our floor lighting! The LED lightbulb is included with this lamp. The maximum wattage is 9 watts. The light settings are 1 way. Thanks for choosing Target. - Anita
A: The product description says it includes an LED bulb.
A: I have six of these lamps that I have been using for over a year (and a couple of those, for over two years). In each one those, I use Philips Hue LED smart bulbs, which are NOT 3-way. I am aware that the manufacturer recommends only 3-way bulbs. But, I chose to use the Hue bulbs and I have not encountered any issues (so far).
A: A "3 way" lamp socket has a second contact for use with 3-way bulbs to enable low-medium-high lighting. The same socket will also work with a regular bulb but only for on-off. A wireless smart bulb will work just the same in a 3-way socket as it would in a regular socket since the dimming function is wireless i.e. does not depend on the extra contact in a 3-way lamp socket.
