Like everyone says solid wood even smells like it BUT, I was unfortunate to receive what looked like a used piece of furniture. Chipped paint, nicks, scratches, stains you name it, mines had it. Very saddened because I LOVE this collection. Purchased the desk in October arrived on Halloween and it was pristine but what are they doing now re-circulating used furniture? Target if you must recirculate used product then please discount it. Also the packaging was very well done as always, actually a little excessive all for it to just arrive damaged anyway... I MIGHT try again because I deserve a brand new one as anyone else who paid the same.
