*Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications along with the number of connected devices were defined according to test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not guaranteed, and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition. Actual network speed may be limited by the rate of the product's Ethernet WAN or LAN port, the rate supported by the network cable, Internet service provider factors and other environmental conditions.

Q: I have is an AC 1750 but it doesn't reach two rooms in my house. If I buy a second AC 1750 (call it Router #2) , hardwire it with an ethernet cable to router # 1, and put it in one of the rooms, do I need to set it up in a web browser as well?
A: Ideally, in this configuration, the second router should be set up in Access Point Mode, which is an option presented during setup, whether done via the web browser or via the Tether app. Feel free to reach out to our support team if you have any questions and we'll gladly follow up. Thank you.
submitted byTPLinkSupport - 4 years agoBrand expertA: Hi, karens! Regarding your question about the TP-Link AC1750 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit WiFi 5 Router- (Archer C7): If you want to change the SSID(Wi-Fi name)/Password then yes you will. By default it will use whatever credentials were put on it in when the operating system was loaded onto the router. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.
submitted byTaylor - 4 years agoTarget expert supportA: Hi karens. You would need to configure it via the web ui, and I'd suggest configuring as an access point. You might not need the ethernet cable if the signal from router 1 is sufficient for the access point configuration. Please note I am not a TP-Link or Target support person, merely someone with experience and thought I'd offer a suggestion.

Q: This router did not work for me when setting up usi wireless. They told me a stand alone router, gigabit capable is what I need since their modem is installed in the building. It didn't work. any tips
A: Hi! If you are having difficulty acquiring Internet access after connecting the router directly to your modem via Ethernet cable (required), it could be that your cable modem's MAC (Media Access Control) binding needs to be released and renewed, so it can provide an IP address (and Internet) to the Router. This can typically be done using the following steps: 1. Unplug the power from both your router and cable modem 2. Unplug the coax cable from the modem 3. Re-connect power ONLY to your cable modem 4. Wait until the cable modem is fully booted, then re-connect coax 5. Re-connect power to the router and connect it to the modem via Ethernet This process should release and renew the MAC binding, so your modem can provide connectivity to the router. If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our toll-free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

The primary differences between the Archer C7 (AC1750) and the Archer AX50 is the jump from Wi-Fi 5 technology on the Archer A7, to Wi-Fi 6 on the Archer AX50. Additionally, the Archer AX50 increases overall connectivity and available bandwidth significantly, when compared to the Archer A7.

Q: do I absolutely need my modem plugged into a coaxial port ?
A: Hi, David! Regarding your question about the TP-Link AC1750 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit WiFi 5 Router- (Archer C7): If you have standard cable internet such as that offered by Xfinity then yes, that's how the modem gets the connection to your provider which is then sent to a router such as this to expand the amount of ports and broadcast it over Wi-Fi. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.
submitted byTaylor - 2 years agoTarget expert supportA: Hi! If your modem is a cable modem, it will need to be connected to your Internet Service line via coaxial cable. Then, the modem's Ethernet port can be used to provide Internet to the router, using an Ethernet cable.

Yes, if your Verizon gateway (modem + router) supports Ethernet output, you can connect the Verizon router to the Archer C7's Internet port using an Ethernet cable, allowing the Archer C7 to be the primary router for your network. Depending on your networking needs, you may want to contact Verizon to discuss whether the Verizon gateway is required for your subscription plan, or if it can be replaced by an ONT device (usually only applicable if your service plan is Internet only).

Q: Does this connect to DSL?
A: The Archer C7 does not have a direct DSL line hookup (RJ11 telephone jack), however, it can be used in conjunction with an existing DSL modem - which you would then connect via Ethernet cable (RJ45 Ethernet) - to the Archer C7 so you can enjoy robust, reliable, dual-band AC1750 WiFi within your home.
