Q: Is there a trick to getting this to transform? For some reason it won't turn into a car, it gets stuck.

It took a couple tries to figure out the transformation, but after that it was quick and simple. I think it might be a user error for those who wrote poor reviews. There’s no instruction manual and the picture on the box isn’t that clear so I can see how some find it difficult to transform. The arms have to be positioned and tucked in a certain way for it to work (see pictures for reference).

Very frustrating toy. It is particular on how you put the parts in in order for it to transform. Pretty hard for a child to figure out.

It doesn’t transform as smoothly in the video but after a bit of a learning curve for a few days, my 4 yo was able to play w/it w/o a problem. He knows how to place the arms correctly and he pushes the back of the car together firmly. I think it’s cool how easily this toy transforms compares to the original toys. I just wish it were more yellow instead of orange like the actual Bumblebee character.

You have to make sure the arms are turned the right way before transforming. If you do that it transforms very nicely. I taught my 4 year old to always check the arms before transforming and he does it and puts it into a car with no issues now. Took a couple days of him asking me for help, but he is 4, so I expected that with a toy that is above his age. But now he has it and he plays with it all the time. This is his favorite toy of Christmas!

Worst $30 I’ve ever spent. The thing doesn’t close up easily back into a car. It takes 3 adults in the house to close it back. It’s terrible

I’m really not sure why these other reviewers are giving it bad reviews. My 3 year old can transform this with no issues. It’s simply important that his arms are in the right position, similar to how any other one step needs to be. My son loves it and it’s super cool to watch this thing go from robot to car mode. A little pricy, though, so consider waiting for a slight discount.

Need major muscle, or willing to break the toy, to convert it into a car

My son got this toy from his Grandma yesterday for Christmas. It is a horribly-designed toy that he cannot play with as a true Transformer. He can only play with it as a robot, not a car. The video in the item description makes is seem so easy to fold and transform into a car, but that is hardly the case. The arms get stuck so you have to force it to fold, which only breaks the plastic “switch” inside (see picture). And when you are able to force it to transform into a car, it won’t stay closed and will pop back open. Not to mention this is supposed to be Bumblebee, but this toy is orange, not yellow.

The transformer doesn’t transform? It won’t even close all the way. This toy was at the top of my sons Christmas list. Super disappointed it doesn’t actually do what the description says it should do.

My 4-year-old was quickly able to learn how to transform this toy from a car to bumblebee. The only downside is the back tires pop off sometimes But they pop right back in so it's not a big deal.

Cool looking, but doesn’t transform into a car. It gets close, but the pieces don’t align. Why would you say it’s easy one step and then not test it? Are they trying to make kids cry? How does this happen?

cool idea, but it broke in the first five minutes. poorly designed. if the hood/chest isn't in the right position when it transforms, tiny pieces break off and then his chest won't stay down.

It’s expensive for a toy that doesn’t work without constant help from an adult. But it does look cool when it is in both forms and my son still likes it.

Like the others have said above, requires precise alignment for it to transform to a car and even then doesn’t stay put well. Quite frustrating.
