about this item

This work presents original, edited interviews with those who worked with Pierre Trudeau, the former Prime Minister of Canada. Those interviewed include policy makers, diplomats, military officials, and other veterans of the Trudeau era. The interviews were conducted over 30 years ago, between 1986 and 1988, and shed light on policies as well as Trudeau the man. Material is grouped in sections on advisers and ministers, deputy ministers and senior diplomats, and defense and foreign policy advisers. The book also contains sections on Canada’s relations with the US, Europe, the Soviet Union, the Far East, and the UK. The final section covers the peace initiative. The book ends with an interview with Trudeau. Distributed in the US by University of Washington Press. Distributed in Canada by University Toronto Press.
