With a mix of logic, engineering and trial and error, playing this stacking game requires no instructions or rules. There's really no one way to play. But there is real science behind the design. True Balance began in Europe as a medical device to improve focus and fine motor skills! The various magnetic discs rotate independently. It looks a bit wacky but grownups and kids love the feel and the challenge while sitting or standing. Couch potatoes and athletes alike appreciate the competitive challenge against centrifugal forces.
I bought this for my six year old, but it was a big hit at our Christmas gathering.
Now that we've had it a while, of course it's easier.
But for $15 we entertained 7 people for more than an hour.
Win, win in my book.
This is fun. We passed it around to all ages. I think I should have gotten the one a step harder. I bought it for my kids 10,12 and 14. We all got it pretty quickly but even yet still pick it up when we see it.
Fun game, especially when I easily showed up my husband on my first try. Takes concentration and patience as well as a steady hand. At first, I wasn't do sure about it, but trying it a couple of times convinced me that it was truly a test of coordination. It was interesting to see how differently each member of my family approached it and who was instantly better. Not sure who determines the "optional" questions, but "educational value" should be on this, and I would give it a high mark in this area. I could see it expanding into questions and study of physical and mental training. The quality was a bit lower than expected, but overall pretty good. This is the travel version. I know there is also a regular version that is a bit larger (more discs) as well as a expert version (even more), but they don't seem to be available through Target.

I purchased the full size TrueBalance as gifts from another company & those families who received them loved them. This STEM toy engaged & challenged both adults and children. I purchased this travel sized TrueBalance when it was on sale. I was so disappointed in the size and quality of the travel size, I returned it the same day I had picked up my online purchase.
I bought one of these for my kids (age 8 and 13). Initially, both were enthralled with it. I ordered them for all the nieces and nephews for Christmas. Now that my kids know how to do it pretty quickly, they lost interest. Not sure if these will be a hit or just more clutter.
