At first I thought it was a fluke but then I came on here and saw that a lot of people are having the same issues. It thickens up and turns into a glob. Plus I noticed that my bath towels are not soft as they are with other fabric softeners.
I purchased this product because my store was out of All and I needed the "no dyes, etc.." This stuff is so thick it won't pour out o the bottle! I have diluted it with water two times and it thickens up before I do laundry again! I regret my purchase.

Our products should always reach you in the best possible condition, and we’re sorry to hear that wasn’t the case for you! It may be helpful to know that if a fabric softener is exposed to extreme temperature, either hot or cold, it may become thick or even lumpy. The good news is the product is still safe to use! To do so, mix a capful of product with 1/2 cup warm water until blended. The resulting mixture would be approximately 3 medium load doses, and should be added via the machine’s dispenser or directly to the rinse water if your machine allows. If your fabric softener was frozen, it will appear much thicker (gel-like) and won't return to normal consistency on its own. We recommend always storing your laundry care products in a cool, dry place. We’d like to learn more about your experience so we can help further, please feel free to give us a call at (800) 688-7638.
I really like this product. Recently my store only had the largest size so I purchased it...mistake! Not even half gone and it’s lumpy and thick and clogs up the washer. Tried shaking it - nope. Big old waste of money.

We're so sorry to hear about this.Sometimes softener may become lumpy when exposed to extreme heat or cold, which may have happened during shipping. We'd like to learn more. Can you please call us at (800) 688-7638?
Just purchased my first 150 load bottle of Ultra Downy and can say it is the worst product I have every had from Downy. I shook the bottle, added the liquid in the last rinse, as I have done for years. My hubby's shirts were so electric, I had to buy some product to release the shocks. My second load of bedding was dry, rough and not as shocky and my third load of whites was about the same. What has happened?? As you can see by my age, I have used softeners before and am very unhappy with
I purchased and use this today. Now, everything I have washed with it is stained! I wish I had read the reviews prior to this because others had the same problem. Don't purchase unless you like to replace bedding, clothing, etc.

This is never the experience you should expect with Downy, so we're glad you reached out to us. When using fabric conditioner, always make sure to add fabric softener to the final rinse cycle, not the wash cycle. To remove any residue, our products are all water soluble, so soak the items in the hottest water safe for the fabric. We'd like to talk and get a bit more information, so when you have time, give us a call at (800) 688-7638.
