If you are looking for a solid flexible tripod; pull the trigger. This tripod is not lightweight and it's not too heavy. I'm 5'10 and I'm able to use tripod prior to engaging the extension. The tripod is stable in sand, on gravel, and on uneven pavement.  see moreof ez2bking's review
