  • A: The Essential XL is one of our largest backpacks with a 40 L capacity. That's a lot of room!! We recommend this style for travel, though it could be used for school if you expect to be hauling a lot of school supplies on the daily and needing room for extra-curriculars! It measures 13.0" w x 17.0" h x 12.5" d. Comparatively, our Essential Large has a capacity of 31 L and the dimensions of 12.5" w x 17.0" h x 8.25" d.

    LOVE!

    I love how big the backpack is! it has AMAZING amount of space. i used to have a Jester Luxe by North Face and i could barely fit anything and now I’m worried about how I’m gonna fill up my Vera Bradley! Super good fabric and it fits just how i wanted! i will say if you don’t need a lot of pockets get the large! It is also SO cheap!

    Great backpack

    I got a large one last year off of the Vera Bradley website it lasted well!! My sub cut the strap because the bell rung and it was stuck in someone else’s locker. I will repurchase!!

    Not worth it

    After less then a year the backpack is faded and color looks bad. Different shades of black on different parts of the bag. Not due to user, bag was never sitting out in sun for prolong period of time.

    Quality is cheaper

    I have the smaller version, which I bought about 10 years ago. There is a significant difference in the quality of the material. This one is made of thinner material so even with the quilting, it doesn't hold the structure like my older version. Unfortunately, I needed it immediately so returning was not an option. It served its purpose but I'm not convinced it will hold up as well as my older one.

    Great XL Backpack
