This video monitor lets you pan and tilt to get a better look at every angle in the nursery using the long-range parent unit. The VTech VM5262 5" Digital Video Baby Monitor with Pan & Tilt Camera, Full Color and Automatic Night Vision helps you soothe baby using lullabies and soft sounds that play right from the baby unit. Plus, you can make sure your infant is cozy by monitoring the nursery temperature that's displayed right on the large 5" LCD screen. Best of all, you can check in during nap time or after dark thanks to automatic infrared night vision.
I have been using this monitor for over four months and really happy with it. It's a gift from my in-laws before my second baby was due. The video quality is very clear in both daylight and night vision. The pan tilt zoom are handy for me to check into the nursery especially when my first boy, a toddler is also playing in the same room. Also the large screen and two way talk that I like very much. Highly recommend.
Buyer beware. If I could give this ZERO stars, I would. This is our FOURTH VTech monitor. I know, I know- why keep buying them if they all suck? We bought the first one about a year ago and it stopped charging after a month or so. Target was great and provided a new one for us. Crapped out after MAYBE three months. So we decided to give another VTech monitor (this one) a try since the price was great. What a shocker, one of the cameras stopped working after a few weeks. The picture would show up for a second or two - then turn black. Target, again, was awesome and replaced it. Well now, just a few short weeks later, both cameras have stopped working. I cannot believe it's coincidence that we've been through FOUR different sets of VTech monitors in less than a year, but here we are. Stay away from this brand!
I started out loving this monitor. Mainly for the ability to control where the camera goes. Sound is great. After about a month, right after I threw my receipt out of course, the monitor was off the charger and died and wouldn’t turn back on for a few hours, even with it connected to power. Now I’m too worried to ever take it off the charger. Now the reason you SHOULD NOT buy this... we all want a video monitor for the sake of being able to see in our children’s rooms. The camera quality after a couple months turns absolutely HORRIBLE. I can’t even see my children at night. I wouldn’t have spent the money on a video baby monitor if I knew it wasn’t going to do it’s job. Worst money ever spent. My 6 year old Summer Infant video baby monitor camera quality was better than this until the monitor finally went out. Also, even though it has night vision and should be able to view in the dark, the picture I shared there’s two night lights in there so the room isn’t even completely black and the brightness is all the way up on my end.
The battery on this monitor is HORRIBLE!! Even with the monitor on, I was not able to hear the baby on the monitor when she cried, even with the volume turned all the way up. The cameras would freeze. I do not recommend this baby monitor.
This unit is NOT HD! the video quality is very grainy in both daylight and night vision. In night vision mode I cannot tell if my toddler is laying down or standing up. Basically gives me the same information as an audio monitor since I can't see anything! In daylight you can see general shape outlines but not details such as are her eyes open or closed? I purchased it because I have a new baby on the way and wanted a 2 camera system with pan tilt zoom but this set is just bad. I would much rather have something that doesn't pan tilt zoom but is clear. I miss using my old cheaper unit, the image was much more clear. I never imagined a more expensive unit that claimed to be HD could be so poor.
We purchased this monitor 2 weeks ago. The video is poor, but useable. The battery is the major issue. Even with the LCD turned off (and audio still on) the monitor lasted for less than 4 hours. We've started using the monitor completely turned off. We'd turn it on to check on the baby and then turn it off. Recently, even when it's turned off, the battery still dies before the morning. How does the battery die while it's not being used? Avoid this monitor.
