Q: Why does my sound glitch out about about once per minute?

Please make sure that the baby unit is within the parent unit's range, and there are no electronic devices that can possibly cause interference. Like many electronic devices, a simple reset may resolve the issue. To do a complete reset on your baby monitor, kindly disconnect the power from the parent and baby unit then turn both units off. Wait for 1 minute then reconnect and test. If this does not help, please call us at 1-800-595-9511. We are open from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM PST, Mondays through Fridays.   • A: Hi - Yes, the VTech VM5254 has a Sound Activation Screen feature. Sound activation is on, the parent unit screen stays off to save power when the baby unit detects no sound. Once the baby unit detects sounds that are louder than the chosen sound sensitivity level, the parent unit screen and speaker turn on automatically. The parent unit will then turn off again after 50 seconds of no sound detection. You can turn off the feature for the parent unit screen to stay on at all times even when there is no activity from the baby unit. Thank you, -VTech Support

After having my baby monitor for a little over a year, here is what is wrong with this monitor. 1. The parent unit will lose some of the features. The noise bars will randomly disappear and the temp will disappear. You have to turn off and on the baby unit for it work again. 2. The battery is now messed up…after a whole night of charging, it will say it’s dead.

Low resolution quality. There is a green light on the monitor itself. If your baby is sleep trained - that means absolutely no light pitch black - which is not possible with this monitor. I return it and spent an additional $20 for the upgraded model which is significantly a better product for your dollar.

This camera has been my saving grace! Although I might not be able to count my sleeping son’s eyelashes because of “horrible camera quality” (*eyeroll*), I can make sure he’s breathing and okay while he sleeps. My favorite feature is honestly the built-in sound machine. The battery lasts a LONG time when I don’t use the sounds, but when I do use them, I have to charge it after 24 hours if I forget to turn them off. Usually the battery lasts 2 days. This is a great camera for the price. The monitor isn’t pixelated and I can clearly see what my son is doing while he sleeps. (He’s 6 months old and is a constant flipper.)

Same yourself some money, this needs to be plugged it or else turns off. The camera doesn’t move and the screen turns off too much, overall dissatisfied with this monitor, it’s too expensive to not work after 6 months 😓

There are some great features like the temperature reading, the big screen, and the color changing night light but the battery life is so horrible that I can’t give this more than 1 star. After only 1.5 years of using at night, it will only work when plugged in. I’m not one to write reviews but this purchase was very disappointing and I would not recommend buying this baby monitor.

I love my Vtech Baby monitor! It has clear night vision that lets me see my baby even in the dark. It's easy to set up and use, and it has a long battery life. Would give 0 stars if I could. Just purchased this monitor 2 days ago and already the temperature feature is broken - it can longer read or display the temp of the room so there’s no way to to know if baby feels comfortable. This monitor is trash and will be thrown in the trash where it belongs, don’t waste your money.

Very easy to set up but The camera is super zoomed in and there isn’t a way to undo this even with it being out across the room. Can’t move the camera with the monitor which seemed like you could when looking at the box and camera itself. The picture was super blurry as well. At night I couldn’t tell where my child actually was. BUT, once I took it back to target to return they told me that the sticker on the box meant it was damaged/defective and should have never been sold in the first place; so not sure if this product would have been better if not damaged before purchasing it. Def a waste of my time, money and gas. Disappointed.
