Q: Does this come with a cover?

Q: What does it weigh? Does it have separate chips and water pan? Can you still BBQ without water pan?

submitted by L - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi! The 18 inch Smokey Mountain Cooker weighs 47 lbs and includes a removable water pan for easy cleaning. We would recommend placing your wood on the bottom rack with your charcoal and using a filled water pan to help regulate the temperature. Thanks!

I feel the WSM 22.5 is the best bang for the buck in a smoker. It takes up a small footprint and maintains consistent temperatures.

I am a first time smoker. I could not believe how easy and well it worked. I got the hang of controlling the temp early on. It takes more work than a pellet smoker. But, the results are great on this grill.

Easy to put together. Amateur smoker person here & even I made the best smoked chicken & pork on it. So easy to use. Holds temperature all day. Look forward to many years of cooking with this smoker. Highly recommend.

Very easy to use. I had never smoked meat before. Decided to try a spatchcock chicken as my first endeavor. It came out juicy and tender with an excellent smoke ring. Trying St. Louis ribs next. So glad and excited that I added a Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 inch smoker to my repertoire.

This Smoker is a great add to my Weber Family as I own a 22” Performer. My first cook was 6 racks of spareribs for my daughter’s graduation party. They came out great. A lot of cooking space. Easy to maintain temperature. Easy clean up. I would recommend to anyone.

Uses a lot of charcoal

I love charcoal, I love Weber. I do find the Weber smokey mountain does use a lot of fuel which is a little annoying but not enough to make me regret the purchase. It's fun to use and fairly easy once you get the hang of it.

I bought mine a month ago and since then wonder what I was waiting for. This unit is a set it and forget it beauty. Once I get my temp where I want it, I never have to do anything but add briquettes on longer smokes. Being a water bath style, you will also have to keep an eye on that. But with the bowl being so large, again, only on the long cooks. Love my WSM.

Great smoker! I’m very inexperienced but made some delicious pulled pork and smoked chicken quarters. Pretty easy to operate and I love that it’s easy to take apart and store in the shed

First time charcoal and smoker! Love the WSM! I did a lot of research and as popular as offsets have gotten. I must be realistic with the amount of time i have to devote to the cook with a family, job, etc. Charcoal provides an amazing taste and the WSM make it very close to set and forget. I am still learning but i have successfully cooked a pork shoulder for 6 hours without checking on it (other then grate temp). I do have a thermometer at grill level and i maintained 250 with 3/4 a bag if BnB charcoal briquettes in minion method and water pan used. Also tried ribs, steaks, smoked burgers, and hot dogs. All fantastic! The "hardest" thing to cook so far was a 14lb turkey but the flavor was amazing! Smoked turkey salad leftovers was amazing! I love all the Mods available for this smoker. Many are not needed but fun to make it unique to you. In my case, wheels, new front charcoal door, and a hinge for the lid. None of them are needed but useful.

Simple enough for a beginner in smoking, advanced enough for a pro to fire up and use. You simply monitor the temps and if it gets too hot, you close the dampers. Need more heat? Open the dampers back up. I’ve yet to have something bad come off my WSM. You’ll find yourself making excuses to fire it up and cook whenever there’s a call for something tasty.

Solid smoker and better than what I expected. Smoking was easy, cleanup was minimal and finally cooked a full brisket over night without having to tend fire once.
