I am an avid home baker and have following Michelle Lopez’s blog, Hummingbird High for years. I originally hesitated to buy this book because I thought most of the recipes would be too elementary for me- I already have cookie, cake, and quick bread recipes that I enjoy and bake often. However, I did end up getting it and have found the book very very versatile for the beginner and for seasoned bakers. All the recipes that have tried are very reliable and good. She also has great tips for breaking up a recipe across a few days to make “Weeknight Baking” achievable for the busiest home baker. Personally, I like her comments/tips and ideas for different flavor variations. I turn to this book when I want to make something classic and I’m short on time and I don’t want to think about it too much. Great book!

Bought & shipped by Target for my daughter in cold, northern state. She really seems to enjoy & recipes have good tips and are broken down into stages. Says the peanut butter cake is divine.
