Have used Windex for decades on glass and (less frequently) on all sorts of other surfaces. If you have really dirty glass it pays to use soap and water first (as directed). Why use Windex then? Because the formulation gives a very clean surface with no film or streaks. It pays to use a CLEAN paper towel with a light spray for the last pass. Otherwise you may wipe the dirt back on (not bright). Another not bright move that I have been guilty of is using it on lacquered / varnished surfaces of an old furniture piece. Took the shine RIGHT OFFf even though I wiped quickly. Afterward I read the directions that CLEARLY state not to use it on finished wood furniture (the wife was NOT happy). So I'd rate it a great product when used properly. We always have at least one bottle around.
I bought a bottle of Windex to clean a mirror. It left a nasty film that was hard to get off. One earlier comment someone left said that on a dirty mirror or window you should clean it first with soap and water. What the heck! So we should use Windex only on clean windows. I plan to pour a nearly full bottle down the drain to avoid the stress.
I recently purchase 3 bottles of original glass cleaner to replace the ones that were running out of Windex. I keep one in each bathroom and one in the kitchen. Two of the three spray triggers have failed after only a few uses. You should go back to your old vendor or change back to your old design. I would not mind paying a bit more for a container that works.
I have been using Windex Original formula for years on my glass topped kitchen table. My latest bottle leaves a film on the glass that is impossible to remove. I recently went to the US and bought a bottle of Windex Original and it works great, no film....what happened to the Canadian formula
