Q: Could this be used in a bathroom? Would the steam affect it,

submitted by Sscott - 6 years ago
  • A: Although it is not designed for it, I have had mine in the bathroom for about a year now with no problems. I keep my clean towels in it.

submitted byVicki - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi Sscott - Thanks for asking. This accent cabinet is not designed to be used in a bathroom. Have a great day! - Nathalie

  • A: Bathroom, probably not. The inherent moisture would affect the product. Unless there's no shower/tub and just a powder room.

submitted byAlwayscreating - 6 years ago
  • A: I've had ours in a bathroom for 9 years, no problems.

Q: Can anyone tell me what color the shell is? What type of white is it? More beige or white?

submitted by Annie - 5 years ago
  • A: It's cream colored - definitely not what I would call "true white".

submitted byLisa - 5 years ago
  • A: This is NOT a white or even a "true white". It is cream. I wanted a "true white", as pictured in the bathroom scenario. Nope, not a white - it is a CREAM! And I can't even return it to the store.....

submitted byWearymom - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi Annie - This classic Windham Cabinet is sure to display your cookbooks, photo albums, or mugs in style! We'd consider the 'Shell' cabinet to be a true white. I hope this helps! - Alli

Q: I want to use this for shoe storage. Does anyone have any ideas as to how many pairs it might hold?

Q: Is the grey a dark grey

submitted by sharynz - 5 years ago
  • A: I would consider it to be a medium gray.

Q: I'm assuming since the sherlf is adjustable it can be removed entirely? I'm looking for something in which to store large plastic containers of dog food / treats.

submitted by JenT - 5 years ago
  • A: yes, the shelf is removable. We have the bottom section filled with many books and there's no issue with weight at all.

submitted byotherme - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes, the shelf is removable, however, I wouldn't put anything too heavy in it. It's more for displaying decor and storing smaller, lightweight items.

    submitted byCountrymomma2 - 5 years ago

Q: Will the fabric storage cubes fit on these shelves?

submitted by amprudie - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes. They fit perfectly. This unit will comfortably hold 4 fabric storage cubes.

submitted byVW - 6 years ago
  • A: The shelves are pre-set. You have about 12” deep, 11” high, and 27” wide for each shelf (2).

submitted byLCR - 6 years ago

Q: I would like to use this under a wall mounted tv... thoughts!? Too big? Too small? Just right? Thanks!!

submitted by Hark357 - 6 years ago
  • A: I would say you could use this piece as long as the TV is not too big. Maybe the the same width or smaller than the width of the cabinet.

submitted byjmtmat - 6 years ago
  • A: Our TV sits right on top and it's 70". The one thing you should be aware of is there are no holes in the back for cords. We drilled some in.

submitted byHayley - 6 years ago

Q: Is the back of this cabinet finished? Thinking of using it as an island in my new kitchen.

submitted by Jc1 - 6 years ago
  • A: No, the back is not finished. Also, check the dimensions before you decide to use it as an island- it’s less than 3 feet tall.

submitted byMalloryP - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes it is! It is the same color as the cabinet

submitted byKt - 6 years ago

Q: I'm considering this cabinet for my kitchen to hold KitchenAid stand mixer & extra dishes. What is the weight capacity of the shelves? Would I be able to repaint since none of the colors work for me?

submitted by TK64 - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi TK64 - We can help with the weight capacity question. The top surface of this cabinet holds a maximum weight of 50lbs. The inside shelves hold a maximum weight of 40lbs each. Thanks for stopping by! - Matt

submitted byguest services - 6 years ago

  • A: Can't answer weight capacity, but the shelves have held up very well for me with a full load of books on each one. If you need to know if it is big enough to hold the kitchenaid mixer, i suggest going to see it in the store in person. most targets carry a version of this on the shelf. Personally, i wouldn't bother trying to paint it - its a shiny type of paint finish and I think it would need at least sanding and priming before you could attempt to paint it a different color. If you have to go to all that trouble.. just buy something else :-)

Love this little guy. Good quality for the price. Color is rich and beautiful. The only thing........you will never get the doors to be even or level. I'm a handy person and I worked on getting those doors to be level for 1+ hour. I even drilled my own holes. It just doesn't happen. I am a perfectionist, so I can see if something 1mm is off.....however, the other people in my house think it looks great and can't even tell! We are keeping it, and I do like it, but I can't look at it too long so it will be going in someone else's room. You might be bothered if you're a perfectionist like me, but otherwise, you won't care. For the price, I don't expect absolutle perfection so I still recommend it.

Nice overall my only complaints are that the door hinges were very hard to screw in and the color is more of a yellow beige than an off white which is how the pictures depict it

The cabinet arrived quickly and undamaged. The directions were excellent and all the parts combined for each step of the assembly process. I have to say, this was the easiest RTA project ever. The only issue was removing the numbering stickers. They were glued so well, that it was easy to damage the paint removing them. I was also pleased with the color and quality of the cabinet and have another on order.

The cabinet is pretty, and the color "Overcast" is true to the product picture. It's a pretty teal-ish blue with grey undertones. I was concerned about what the color would really look like, but was pleased when it arrived. It was easily assembled with just a screwdriver and a square. We used the square to make sure the back was on straight, after reading some of the reviews. That made all the difference in getting the doors to be straight. The quality is about what you would expect, not great. The back is two pieces held together with what looks like bluish duct tape. The back material is thinner than a not very thick cardboard, but since it will be against a wall, I'm not too mad about it. All said, it will serve the function I wanted it for, the color is nice, and it will work for me. Is it a piece of furniture that you'd be super proud of? Maybe not, but for the price, it's nice.

Had to order twice. First time the cabinet came damaged. Beautiful color and the size is perfect! The only thing with assembly was the two glass doors not perfectly even. Needed a second pair of hands to help tighten the hinges.

Predrilled holes on back panel not present..this would have been helpful. Doors do not align properly (warped). Back taped panel paint not aligned as if taped had been removed and reapplied. Several small areas with dents and scratches with missing paint.

It was very well packed. The instructions were clear. Quality was excellent. The only disappointment was the difficulty in getting the doors level and opening and closing freely. I had to remove the back panel after attaching it and only re-attaching once the doors were installed and levelled.

I purchased this cabinet several years ago and have been happy with it until I came home one day and found the glass on one side shattered as though it was struck with a blunt object. Not sure my cat is capable of that... Will have to replace the glass or discard the cabinet. Very disappointed!

Great for the price!! The finish was much nicer than I expected, and the assembly was a breeze — very similar to IKEA style assembly. The parts were in a sealed package, in labeled sections by step. I got the washed wood finish and it’s true to color. I’m using this as a side table alternative in my living room, which adds some storage as well. It’s not an heirloom piece, but it certainly helps bring my space together!

I purchased two of these cabinets, and I absolutely love them. The first one took about two hours to assemble. The second one took less than an hour. The instructions say to use both a screwdriver and a hammer, but I only used a screwdriver even to screw the back on. The two starter holes for the back were a great guide for me to complete the rest, and there are pre-drilled holes on the backing to use as a guide, just not any on the actual cabinet after the first two guide holes. I didn't have any trouble putting them together, and they look absolutely beautiful. One of them was missing one screw for the back, but that isn't a deal breaker. Just use the extra from the spare parts. I would definitely recommend this style cabinet to any do-it-yourselfer. Good news is if you're not great at putting things together, there is an option pay a little more to have it put together for you. The cabinet is sturdy, even and gorgeous! If this style suits your esthetic, get it. You won't be disappointed.
