You have to press and role a peeled clove. They get stuck so use a brush to poke them out. Takes time and effort to use and then clean.

It’s not a bad garlic press but it doesn’t work as well as I thought it would. The concept makes sense and seems great, but it doesn’t press garlic very easily. So if you are looking for something easy to press your garlic. This isn’t it.

I had to press harder than I thought, but works well. Easy to clean, but I would rinse soon after use so nothing gets stuck because the meal is thick. This replaced my older OXO press that rusted.

Disclaimer: I hoard kitchen gadgets and tools. That being said, this is a great little device. Not bad for garlic, but great for mashing fruit and pastry blending. Seems solid and the size is perfect for balance and control. The wooden handle is a little rough, so that accounts for the single star demerit. Cleaned up easily, although I wouldn't suggest letting anything get dried out in the holes.

Yes, I can't chuck this in the dishwasher due to the wooden handle, but this garlic press is still easier to clean due to it's open design. It's easier to pull off and chop the garlic clove skin than fish it out of my press type tool. Very satisfied with this purchase.
