A: Hi Jill, There is no backing. The reverse is the same fabric, the color appears to be lighter than the front of the panel.

I ordered the black and they definitely do block a lot of light! I don't love the waffle texture of these curtains, but I prefer the light blocking quality over the look at this point. I have a double curtain rod that had 2 sets of curtains (1 "blackout" and 1 not) prior to these curtains and these alone block more light than both of those 2 together. My neighbors have a light on a sensor that is pointed directly into my son's room, so I wound up using these and the other blackout curtains and they work perfectly. I would highly recommend.

these are so nice and just what i wanted for my room. i would say they are about 90% blackout on really sunny days, but with good window blinds i think they would be closer to 100%. they are great quality and look nicer than i expected.

Definitely darkens a room, but not blackout. There is no liner, it's just a thick, tight weave. There is a slight sheen to the fabric which I personally don't care for, but the curtains work well enough that I can overlook that. I like that they are wide panels, they cover the windows better.
