Great guns for target shooting - not the best for gun fights.
4 out of 5 stars

I bought this about a year ago when my son and I saw them in the store. The guns do say for ages 8 and up. I bought these when my son was three. He's was very big, strong, physical 3 year old that was bigger than many 5 year olds, but he wasn't able to load or fire these on his own. Now that he's 4 (and the size of many 6 year olds) he's strong enough to load and fire them on his own. So I'd say most kids will need to be 5 or 6 at least to use these.
I give this set 4 stars and not 5 for only one reason: The rifles are not easy to load and fire quickly. You have to load them by snapping the rifle open, bending the barrel down and loading a single dart into the middle of the rifle. This makes them great for shooting darts 1 at a time at cans but it's not ideal for fast-paced play and dart-gun fights because in that setting these are basically "shoot it and forget it weapons." If you want to play with these for gun fights I think you're much better off paying a few more dollars to get some of the guns with dart drums or multi-dart clips and the slam fire feature that lets you fire multiple darts quickly before stopping to reload. We just ordered some of those and I'm looking forward to using those. From what I've seen online I expect to give those 5 stars all the way!
We love the X-Shot Guns usually. They seem easier to load than nerf and the darts work better than most nerf darts. The guns will take nerf darts or any nerf type darts easily. We do like the Micro Blasters, but the big guns are hard to load. My 8 year old literally has to hit it over his knee to open it to put the dart in. It's his least favorite gun because of that. Other X-Shot guns are great, but this one was just designed poorly.
This gun pack is so cool. I like that it had multiple guns so that my husband my daughter and I could all play. I was really surprised at the power they had compared to some other guns I’ve had in the past. My three year old likes the bigger gun. At first she had difficulty working it. She wasn’t strong enough to pull open the gun for loading or pull the piece back that gets it ready to fire. Now she can do both with a little help from the floor.
Seems like a cool gift. My son got it and within 2 weeks the larger "gun" had a plastic piece break and so it wouldn't load. My son is 9 and not harsh with his toys. This should have lasted much longer. We returned it and got a Nerf brand. Hope this holds up better.
My son (8 years old) bought this with a gift card he received. He loves it! Since it came with 4 guns he is able to play with his brother. If he had bought a more expensive brand where he only got 1 gun he would have probably already put it away because he would have no one to play with.
