Just like the other reviewer, we drove through 7 hours of straight rain on our most recent trip and everything stayed completely dry. We were also happy to see how much this carrier would hold. I was really excited to receive this rack, but unfortunately it did not fit my car- latest model of mazda 3. If the company had a listing of compatible car makes/models it would save a lot of grief. Got another brand rack from a different retailer that I knew would fit, just from looking at the box. They should also put on the packaging or website that a women's bike will most likely need an adapter bar. Good to know for biking newbies like me. Despite the disappointing experience, the rack arrived super fast and looked like it was great quality for the price. Was able to return with no problems. see less

I was skeptical about getting a bike rack, whether it was really worth it and if I would ever use it, but then I saw this one. It was lightweight (I carried the box throughout the store) and very inexpensive compared to others I had seen. Even better, when I got it home and tried it out, it was soooo simple to use. And I didn't have to do anything to the car to get it on (like some of the others did). I leave it in the trunk until I'm ready to use it, and it only takes about 5 minutes to set up. Definitely a good buy! see less

Excellent rack for the price, esp compared to the [$] racks. This is my 3rd hitch-mount rack and I've had a new brand name rack --and expensive, and a used one for [$]. This Advantage rack is right in the middle and it's not bad. It does the job esp when I only hook it up less than 10x per year. I need it to tilt, and I need it for 4 bikes. It's compact enough, sturdy enough, and overall a good buy. see less

Works great, has all the features we wanted. Smart, durable design and construction (and pretty heavy). Only 4 stars because the rubber straps included to clamp the bike frames onto the rack seem cheap and I'm not sure how long they will last or how strong they are. I suggest another method of attaching your bike to this rack as a backup to what's provided. see less

I use this on my Ford Focus. The trunk opens fully even when the rack is on. On other cars you can use the tilt feature to open the trunk. I can use a cable lock through the Rack and through the loop on the hitch to make sure it can't be removed from the car. The Rack is light enough to remove from the hitch and carry to my porch when not in use. The top part folds down when bikes are not present so the rods don't stick out in the rear.I do use a bungee strap to go around the bike frame and around the vertical bar of the Rack to keep the bike a little steadier on longer trips. Overall a good purchase. see less

It is easy to use and sturdy. The only minor dislike is that with two bikes on the rack it is a little tight and I have to use a bungy cord to keep the bikes from scratching each other up. I would buy again though as it is a good value. see less

Solid rack. Not sure how long velcro straps will last exposed to weather, bit of a pain to pull out pivot pin if SUV doesn't have separate window hatch. Otherwise, very good buy. Comparable models available locally were twice as much, so I'm happy to have saved a lot of $ with Target.com. see less

This is a pretty handy cargo tote for SUVs because things do tend to roll around the back. However, the two longer sides are always falling down. Kind of annoying but overall a decent product for what it does. I do through all the smaller knick knacks in there. see less

This item seems to be fine, a little hard to connect the front tubing together during assembly. Works well with 3 bikes, will hold 4 with extra maneuvering due to the handle bars all hitting each other. Use a long thick cable through the bike frames and through the bike rack with a heavy duty lock and that would make it difficult for anyone to steel them. It works well in the truck bed as well as in the garage. see less

We were on vacation in Williamsburg, VA and needed more room inside the van we were driving. We saw this product online and checked to see if it was available in the local store, which is was, although it cost about [$]. It was easy to attach to the roof rack, even though the van we were using has the stow n go cross bars. After driving more than 300 miles home the carrier was easy to refold and put back into the storage bag. It appears to be of good quality and we have no doubt it would be rainproof, but we didn't drive through any rain. We would definately recommend this product to a friend. see less

We drove from San Diego to Seattle for Christmas, and we bought one of these for our trip. It held up great! It was very quiet and easy to use. I was also able to FIT IT BACK IN THE BAG after I used it!! It was waterproof and overall we were completely satisfied. see less

We purchased this item at our local Target store. We own a smaller SUV now and have less room inside for our baggage when travelling. The inside of the carrier had a coating that cracked and peeled off onto everything inside of it. I assume that the coating was the rainproof part. It rained during our trip home and everything inside the carrier became wet. I'm giving it 2 stars because it did hold our baggage securely and out of the way. Perhaps it was just this one model that was defective, but I'm not sure I would chance purchasing another one. see less

We bought this carrier to travel 2,100 miles across the country to give us more room in our car, and it worked beautifully! Everything inside it was in perfect condition when we arrived, and completely DRY even though we drove through a bad hail storm in Oklahoma. Highly recommended! see less

Once you get the hang of it, this rack can be very quickly installed on either a Sedan or an SUV (less than 5-minutes). We have owned ours for a few years and it has never let us down. We only ever carry two bikes, but I choose this carrier because it had the two extra straps. If you mount one bike facing one direction and the next facing the opposite direction, and align the pedals correctly (as common sense would tell you), there is easily space for a third bike. We usually also incorporate a bungie or two and a couple of rags to prevent the bikes vibrating against each other or the car and ruining the paintwork. We've taken 300+ mile road trips with the bikes on the back, freeway and mountain roads. I'm a very spirited driver and we've never had any issues with the rack not being secure. I think the extra harness points make all the difference. see less

This bicycle rack is a very good deal - I had no problem attaching it to the vehicle, though the directions could be a little more detailed. So far I've only carried one heavy beach cruiser on it, approx. 10 miles round trip, several times with no problems. I'm not finding it necessary to use any extra help (bungie cords, etc) though I do tie the excess strap footage around the frame of the bicycle simply b/c its there and it would fly around while driving; it seemed like a no-brainer. It would be better if I could lock the bicycle to it, and there are bike racks in the marketplace that do, but I couldn't find any locally. The only other foreseeable problem is that the actual bicycle rack can easily be lifted off the trunk of your car and stolen, so take heed. see less

For that little bit of extra space for camping gear, it's the perfect solution. We no longer have to fold the back seat down in my Mitsubishi Outlander, so we can even have my son bring a friend along. Easy to install, (after getting a trailer hitch) and remove when arriving at our campsite, and Target's price is right. Came very quickly too! We did have to purchase the lift kit to give the extra clearance I felt was a must. We are very pleased and will use it for many camping trips to come, and I can't wait to see how else we will use this very ingenious item! Would have given five stars if I didn't need the lift kit too. see less

This cargo bag is nice, but it has no structure. When putting your luggage in the saddle bag it will flop from side to side. It would be better, if the bottom had a structured base to keep the saddlebag in a form. I wanted to keep it, but I will be returning. see less

Held a large and med suitcase plus more. Drove 7 hours in 25 plus mile an hour winds today and this thing performed beyond my expectations, I thought it might get ripped to shreds in the high winds but worked great, you cant go wrong with your[$] for this. see less

We needed a cartop carrie ... see more

We needed a cartop carrier at the last minute for a large SUV. We went with this one because it was in stock and didn't need crossbars (or at least that's what the instructions said). A few problems: the straps on the side of the carrier did not reach the side rails of our large SUV when we had it packed full. It might fit fine for a crossover or a small SUV. It has gone approximately 1600 miles (one round trip) through pretty good weather and is already starting to get holes in it. We also had to put a bungee cord across the back to keep it from sliding off the vehicle. It states it isn't waterproof. That's for sure. The 15 minutes of rain we went through got items in the carrier damp. I would hate to be using this in a downpour. The only plus is that it has a lot of room assuming you can get the side straps to reach. There might be good inexpensive carriers out there, but this isn't one of them. see less

We bought this to use for our vacation from Texas to Florida, and knew that it was only weather resistant, so we put our duffle bags in durable garbage bags, for extra protection, and then put it in the car carrier. By the time we got to Florida and took our luggage out of the karpak, the lining that makes it weather resistant had fallen apart, just crumbled, so now the only thing covering was the cloth of the actual carrier, so by the time we left Florida to go back to Texas you could see through the fabric and it was tearing holes. We used soft duffle bag luggage and not suit cases. Our clothes were totally dry because of the idea to put the bags in large garbage bags for protection, but I won't beable to use this luggage Highland KarPak again. I didn't have the cross bars, so even though it was buckled and strapped, it will slide to the back top of the car. I do not recommend the KarPak car top carrier by HIghland. see less

Net is flimsy and weak. Dimensions on box, website and actual product are not well described and do not match each other. I had to return it. Too large for a hatchback or compact sedan. Net's shock cord is skinny and the net too flimsy to last long. Light usage only on larger vehicles. see less

Had one of these for years, a little advice:This works on roof racks that have side bars, and 2 sliding bars front/back. Put it forward on the rack so you can stand on the door sill to pack it.Best used with large rolling duffels since there is only 36" x 36" of area. Pack it full, having a corner flapping will make noise, and wear a hole. Fuse the ends of the straps with a match to prevent fraying.Check the tension on the straps every time you stop for gas.Tuck strap ends in to prevent noise and damage.Most repairs can be handled with black duct tape. see less

My husband and I used this bag as we traveled over 1000 from Louisiana to Northern VA. We were able to fit everything we needed into it. We were careful not to put anything in it that we could not afford to get wet, but we drove through two rainstorms and everything stayed dry! We attached it to our Subaru Forrester, which has a roof rack, just not the right one for this bag, which then required some creative attaching to our car on my part. We would have been better off purchasing a hard top carrier, but this got the job done for our purposes. see less
