Q: If one purchases the kit in October and sets it up, will it grow in a south facing window if the season is fall/winter? Also, how often would you water the plant in the jar? How do you prevent mold?
A:Â Hi Lisa! You can grow our tomato windowsill planter in the winter. We'd recommend a grow light - especially in the shorter days of winter - to help supplement the light. Your watering frequency will depend on the temperature of the room and how much light your plant gets, in the beginning, you want to keep the top two inches of the soil moist but not saturated or muddy (a spray bottle is a great option) and then as your plant matures, you want to water as the soil dries. Inside, usually, it's about once a week. Feel free to reach out to contact@backtotheroots.com with questions!

Q: i see reviews from people saying that there plant never flowered im wondering how to avoid that
A: Hi there! Plants that don't flower are usually stressed from too much or not enough of something. You will want to make sure your plant has 6 to 8 hours of sunlight or use a grow light to supplement light a day, and you can pollinate it by tapping the stem of the plant - since tomatoes have both male and female parts. Feeding it on a consistent schedule can help, and protecting it from harsh temperatures. Ideally, our tomato kit will grow well between 70° and 75° Fahrenheit. And if you have questions or concerns, we are here to help, just reach out to contact@backtotheroots.com.

Q: is this annual or perrenial? can the plant continuously grow year to year? I'm just wondering if this is something that can grow more seeds and replanted to other pots.
A:Â Hey there! I am so glad you asked. Transplanting is not necessary. Your tomato plant will have plenty of room to grow inside the jar. We actually recommend not transplanting your plant, as the roots may get damaged in the process. Our tomato grow kit is designed to grow inside, so given the right conditions and light, it should come back again the next year. Please don't hesitate to reach out to contact@backtotheroots.com with any other questions!
