@bookquoth “For me, I think maybe that initial spark, that first meeting, could be written in the stars, but it is only the first page—the rest of the story we have to write for ourselves.” 👰🏻‍♀️ This book was fantastic! I loved how smartly the narrative was put together (multiple timelines going back and forth between the past and present in different increments)—not once did it get confusing or feel disjointed. Great writing and editing! 👰🏻‍♀️ Audrey and Josh are all set to get married, but on the night of their rehearsal dinner, Josh’s sister brings a date—a date (unbeknownst to anyone else) that is from Audrey’s past. A “dream guy” she met by accident, with whom she had spent a spellbinding whirlwind afternoon, and has sort of pined for him ever since. They had had plans to meet the very next day after their first meeting, but the guy never showed. His number was smudged, too, so Audrey was never able to contact him. He (and their photo booth photos) was always in the back of her mind (and wallet). Never quite forgotten. Is this fate? Is his presence telling Audrey that she’s not supposed to marry Josh and that he is her soul mate instead? Or is she not meant to get married at all, given her mother’s terrible track record and flippant attitude towards marriage and commitment? 👰🏻‍♀️ This book felt like just the right amount of romance, intrigue, self-doubt, indecision, what-ifs, difficult family relationships, trauma, growth, etc. Perfect recipe, in my opinion. 👰🏻‍♀️ I would really love to see this one as a movie. It felt very cinematic in my head as I was reading it. (Ahem, reesewitherspoon?) It might be my favorite sophie_cousens to date. But I also really enjoyed This Time Next Year, so maybe they’re tied. (Just Haven’t Met You Yet was a bit lackluster for me.) Tell me YOUR thoughts! 👰🏻‍♀️ _______

Book Synopsis

A heartwarming and playful novel about the ones we love and the ones we lose by the New York Times bestselling author of This Time Next Year

What would you do if 'the one that got away' turned up the night before your wedding?

Head-in-the-stars Audrey is about to marry down-to-earth Josh. Though they are polar opposites, they have a healthy, stable relationship; Josh is just what Audrey needs. But romance should be unpredictable and full of fireworks, and as the big day approaches, Audrey's found herself wondering if Josh really is The One.

So, when Josh's sister shows up to the rehearsal dinner with Fred, Audrey's What If? guy--the man she met six years ago and had one amazing day with--Audrey finds herself torn. Surely Fred's appearance the night before she is due to get married can't be a coincidence. And when everything that could go wrong with the wedding starts to go wrong, Audrey has to ask herself: Is fate trying to stop her from making a huge mistake? Or does destiny just have a really twisty sense of humor?
