Description

About the Book

"Building Systems for Interior Designers, Fourth Edition is the single-source technical reference that every designer needs, and an ideal solution for NCIDQ exam preparation. Professional interior design is about much more than aesthetics and decorating, and technical knowledge is critical. Before planning the space, the designer must consider the mechanical and electrical equipment, structural system, and building components, and how they impact the space. This book shows how to evaluate these complex factors, and how each affects a designer's work throughout the building. The Fourth Edition has been updated to benefit educators and students using the text, and fine-tuned to fit the needs of the CIDA certified interior designer program. Each chapter now includes notes regarding industry terms, codes, industry standards, and NCIDQ exam requirements, plus additional student activities at the end of each "Part" division. Experienced designer and educator Taylor Lucas also incorporates new reference material on site and sustainability, WELL building systems, ASHARE / ANSI standards, daylighting, or occupancy sensors, and much more. The comfort, safety, and ultimate success of a project depend upon knowledge of building system and coordination with architects and engineers. Building Systems for Interior Designers provides the comprehensive yet focused information that interior designers need to excel"--
