Book Synopsis

Hey Wimpy Kid fans! You'll love this series too!

As summer draws to a close, 10-year-old Aldo Zelnick travels to the Anderson farm in Minnesota for a family vacation. Aldo's mom is eager for him to experience her favorite childhood pastimes such as shucking sweet corn, milking cows, gathering eggs--and best of all--enjoying fresh air and living off the land.

But Aldo suspects that farm life isn't all that it's cracked up to be, and his worst fears are confirmed. The rooster wakes him at dawn, the chores exhaust him, and the cousins--identical twin pranksters--are in cahoots against him. Even the creepy old portrait of his great-grandfather seems to be watching these shenanigans from the frame on the wall.

Aldo must endure all this without the consolation of TV or computers, because the farm is (gasp!) technology free. The humorous plot turns and lively drawings in this book will captivate both enthusiastic and reluctant young readers.

This third installment in an A-to-Z alphabet series features a vocabulary-building glossary of cool words starting with the letter C, including conniption, charisma, and cattywampus.

Review Quotes

"A blend of a graphic novel and a journal, this series can be used for building a glossary of words with the same initial letter. . . . Featured words have an asterisk in the text and are defined in the gallery at the back. This gimmick does not get in the way of the enjoyment of the story." --"School Library Journal" (November 1, 2011)

"A must for your elementary school reader." --www.thereaderscove.com (April 2011)

"A wonderful series that boys will enjoy. . . . You will laugh out loud - I guarantee it." --Becky Bilby, www.inthepages.blogspot.com (April 2011)

"If you haven't seen this middle grade series yet, then I definitely suggest you do -- and soon! The books are full of laughs and also help kids learn some new vocabulary words. What a great combo!" --Julie Peterson, www.bookingmama.net (April 2011)

"The funniest book in the series so far!" --Mary Lee Hahn, www.readingyear.blogspot.com (May 2011)

"Third volume in a zany alphabetical title series . . . full of wild and crazy moments and experiences." --www.midwestbookreview.com (May 2011)
