A: Thank you for your question, Nancy, as we only want you to be 100% satisfied with the results you receive after using Cascade Platinum ActionPacs. The easiest answer to your question is to make sure your china is dishwasher-safe. This is decided by the manufacturer of the dishes. Never wash old, worn, antique, or family heirlooms in the dishwasher. When in doubt, wash by hand. As a rule, hand-painted and antique china should never be cleaned by machine. Also know that platinum or gold trim on china will fade regardless of detergent used, and they're usually not considered dishwasher safe.

If you are experiencing a left over taste on your dishes, there are a few things we would recommend checking. First, if your dishwasher has a filter, we would recommend removing it and cleaning it according to the dishwashers manual. In addition, It is also important to make sure all of the items are dishwasher safe, and that the sprayer arms are not getting stuck because of a rouge pot handle during the cycle. Please keep in mind that some items made of cast iron, or dishes that have become porous over time can absorb Cascade causing a lingering taste. These dishwasher detergent capsules are good. The scent isn't too strong (I hate strong scents!). A bit pricey, but at least in our household one big box (62 capsules) lasts very long time. We use dishwasher every 2-3 days. I would buy this product again as this is the best dishwasher detergent that we have found now!

I will never understand the obsession with products being so strongly scented. Just why? Why? Why? Who wants their clean dishes to smell like artificial perfume?

Without a doubt the worst dishwasher Detergent I have ever used. First of all it is expensive! Comparing with market brands or not as known brands it is overpriced. Well, I like dishes cleaned so I thought it would be worth the price. My dishwasher is not bad and always got the job done. I tried multiple times with multiple settings to use this terrible pod and usually my dishwasher is half full only. I do scrape food before loading and no matter what it does not clean at all. I have to wash all the plates after and is just the worst! Also the pod does not dissolve. I did use other pods before and had no problem.

O bout this thinking it would be great. I hate it. The smell is so strong I can’t even be in the kitchen when the dishwasher is on. You can taste it when you drink from your cup. I even rinsed the cups out with fresh water and still it takes over the flavor. I spent all of the money I had on these and can’t buy more. So I am past disappointment.

Please know, our Safety Team works very hard to ensure all of our ActionPacs meet our high standards, so what you’ve described isn’t what we expect. If your dishes are retaining the scent of Cascade, it may be a sign that the soap isn't completely getting rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. Additionally, it might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. Try removing the smell by soaking your dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added to it. For your safety in the kitchen, it might be best to stop using Cascade Platinum ActionPacs, but give Cascade Free & Clear a try, as it has the lightest scent of all Cascade dishwashing soap.
